I'd recommend heating a small pocketknife in the lighter until the blade is red hot, then pressing it on the bud. It's a bit of a hassle, but gets you a really fucked up, floaty high. Also, it makes almost no odor, because it's the same as vaping (it doesn't burn the plant material, just the THC).
