that kinda got on my nerves how they started breaking rock/metal down into all these categories.after they started doing that,i was like fuck this shit.what is doom and sludge?

Journey, Van Halen, The Doors, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, The Allman Brothers, Elton John, Queen, Styx, The Who, The Beatles, The Eagles, Santana, Tom Petty, etc.

However the Top Spot goes to Pink Floyd. I got wasted Friday and listened to "Animal", then got wasted saturday and listened to "Wish You Were Here" both were awesome. I'm lucky though since my Dad used to be a big stoner he has a limitless amount of Classic Rock CD's.

Yeah what is that shit? It's like every different band has it's own category. Which is why the band has a name...

Back when they were considered Metal...Rush and Working Man (with Neil Peart on drums, off of their first Live Album).

Umm, I went to see a lot of Hard Rock/Punk bands over the summer, so many that I can't remember them all. They all sound the same nowadays, of course I can remember seeing the big stars, probably Velvet Revolver is one of my more favorite bands of nowadays.

I have a pretty broad taste in music, but ill try to limit er down

Iron Maiden (greatest band in the world)
Rush (second greatest)
Zeppelin
Black Label Society
Shadows Fall
SLAYER
Pantera
David Wilcox (he is the man!)
Floyd
Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble
Queens of the Stone Age
Robert Plant (espicially with the strange sensation)
Black Sabbath
Dio
Diire Straights

As you can see i love maiden, and think they are the vest metal band period. Im not really into alot of the newer american metal, but if it is somehwat progressive and melodic im into it. And i agree with king kong bong about the over genrelization or classification of metal/music.

i have been to ALOT of concerts and i would agree maiden, even today puts on the best show ever. SLAYER is second they have been playing heavy speed metal ever since the 80's and they never changed. when you step onto the floor at a slayer show it's like no other place in the world, but be sure of one thing chaos is coming! metallica dissapionted me, they were the reason i play guitar, fucking seek and destroy! They changed, if you want to get a accustic guitar, and play soft metel FINE, but don't call it metallica.

newer bands
disturbed-awsome
hate breed-local guys got big
lamb of god-fast heavy agressive

can someone compile a good list of Metal, death metal, and everything metal...???

just some bands that are really fast, and talented. I already liek black sabbath, and some other metal bands like Children of bodom

* preferablly no screaming, but if there is screaming... i guess good music will make up for it...

Darkone, although i have never seen maiden live, many ppl say that they have one of if not the best live giugs round. This year on the ozzfest 95 percent of reviewers said maiden stole the show.

In sepetember i went to a HUGE rolling stones show. 85,000 people in moncton new brunswick. The lineup was Les Trois Accords, Our Lady Peace, Marroon five (who surprisinlgy rocked it hard as fuck) the tragiccly hip, and then the stones. First concerrt, and it was breathtaking. Biggest concert on their north american leg of the bigger bang tour.

The Who, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Cream, The Clash, The Bad Brains, The Damned, The Ramones, The Dead Kennedys... and the ONLY rap group that's ever been worth a shit is Public Enemy. Period.

I prefer hardcore music...go listen to Norma Jean, the Chariot, As I lay dying, but not if you're afraid of some screaming ya old codgers! other music is just weak compared to the intensity of hardcore!

OzzyOz, Here's a list of my personal favorite metal bands for you:

Nile (One of my favorite bands, amazing death metal)
Deicide
Absu
Immortal
Dimmu Borgir
Exhumed
Origin
Behemoth
Dark Funeral
Cannibal Corpse (only their albums before the newest one though because it's crap)
Gorgoroth
Bal Sagoth
Borknagar
Hirax
Amon Amarth
Decapitated

Oh metal.. where would I be without you
I like alot of metal mostly because that's the style of music I play.. But if you're going for either trippy or insane points when it comes to music, check out Frank Zappa's older stuff or Captain Beefheart.. Jethro Tull is amazing as well.. Aqualung and Songs from the Wood being my favorite albums..

But I could ramble about music forever

I'd also just like to take a moment to brag about seeing Judas Priest last week with Anthrax.. and it was amazing. Anthrax played stuff from the first album (All the slayery wicked shit before they turned into a rap metal band)
And Priest played everything I wanted to hear. Probably the best concert I've been to, and I've been to alllooottttt of concerts.

You gotta nother thing coming...Brodie.

My Brother listened to Judas Priest as I was growing up. It wasn't until a few years ago, that I realized he had a "Jimi Hendrix 1942-1970" poster above my bed, in pictures of my room when I was young.
