White rabbit is a classic. The Damned even did a cover of it. Very cool. Jefferson Airplane is classic psychedelia. I also highly recommend Pink Floyd's first album "Piper at the Gates of Dawn." (or just about anything by the Floyd, for that matter)

If you like JA, you might also like Hot Tuna (http://www.hottuna.com/).
The bassist and guitarist from JA.

hey man jefferson starship was their name before airplane so you may want to check out some of their cdsActually, they became Jefferson Starship due to what I believe were musical differences.

I've always loved Jefferson Airplane, especially Surrealistic Pillow. (Somebody to Love, White Rabbit, Today, and Comin' Back To Me were among my favorites off of the album.)

Check out the JA cd "Bless it's Pointed Little Head" It was recorded live back i the late '60's and really give you a feel for what those old psychedelic concerts must have been like. I would love to have seen them way back when. I did get a chance to see Jefferson Airplane when they gave a free reunion concert in Golden Gate Park. That was in the late '80's/early '90's , however, and just wasn't the same. Still pretty awesome though and still had that "hippie feel" to it. Especially being in San Francisco where it all began.

Someone else mentioned Hot Tuna and I'd definitely recomend them as well. Either of the Live At Sweetwater cd's are great. Fantastic acoustic blues stuff. And if you get a chance to see them in concert don't pass it up.
