Living in Canada, rugby isnt a very popular sport. But i joined my school team last spring, and im obsessed! i joined a club team over the summer! its the awesomest sport ever! Anyone else play? What positions and stuff? I play lock for Northern SS and the Toronto Nomads in Toronto, canada.

NICE Man, rugby is the shit. Best sport ever. its so much better to play and watch then any other sport. i play fullback...live in australia, its big here

sweet:D rugby IS the shit, definately in my top 3 sports, along with ice hockey (im canadian, of course i love it;)) and skiing. And its growing here. No pro leagues yet... but somewhere down the road it'll happen. This year, in school im gonna try and convince my coach to let me play center for a bit:D i could handle it at my level. I think it would be a nice change. Backs get so many more breaks then forewards, with all the scrums and line outs and stuff, but those are the best parts of the game. theres nothing better then being lifted:D and scrums are fun.

union dude! ive seen league on tv a couple times, its so boring! its like american football, as you guys call it! me and my friends cant stand it.

I grew up in upstate N.Y. and at the State Colleges (from Buffalo to Plattsburgh to Oneonta to Bridgeport) Rugby and LaCrosse were popular intramural sports.

I love rugby! My old roommate used to play it and I used to go to his games blazed as fuck! My favorite part of the game is the Scrum, I don't know why.

Rugby League is the "Bee's Knees"!!:thumbsup:

Union is "Kick and Clap":D League is harder, faster and definatley a better dicipline to watch! You see, rugby league is all about making TACKLES...whereas union is about POSSESION and TERRITORY....In league style rugby,you have to give away possesion to the other team once your team has been tackled 6 times...
Therefore, you have to score in LESS than 6 tackles which makes the game far more daring and energetic when a team has to pull out mad moves to break the "enemy line"!!
Kicking the ball away is a "NO NO"!
Rugby Union is also a great sport and I've played in both disciplines at Uni level...Also for a local club...
I've played as a Winger,Centre and Fullback...But did most damage as a no 11 Winger..
We had a Canadian No 13 [outside centre] who had played for Canada under21's and who almost got picked for the Senior Canada Team for the World Cup 2003!! He was a real beast and was a valuble first team player..

But I switched to Rugby League much against the fabric of mentality...and I was supprised at how good it was ....
