I had some spider mites try to set up shop around here and I kicked some serious spider mite ass!! This won't work for a lot of folks but I too had very short plants (not cuttings) at the time and I just did'nt feel like losing them to the little bastards......so, I sat down with a little teapot ( seriously, I got it at a dollar store, it' like 2" tall) filled with warm (NOT HOT) water and ONE squirt of insectidal soap spray and a Q-tip. You know where I'm going with this right? Get the Q-tip damp and roll the cotton into shape then "lick" the mites (or whatever) right off the leaf. Pretty simple... I also use a white plastic (library) card under the leaf to reflect the light through the leaf to help see them and support it while I wipe them off the top. Be sure to keep the card (now you know why it's white!) and your fingers clean too. Try to pay equal attention to the under side of the leaf as well, AND the main stem... GOD THEY SUCK!!! Wait, this just in.......... Final score SPIDER MITES-0 DUMASS-1 :D It only took 5-6 days but I did it! Of course I also broke down and purchased a spray bottle and filled with a 9/1 water/bleach solution that I cleaned the area with and vacumed it out three times too. Now, I'm going to try to stay on top of it beacause as the plants increase in size the task becomes less effective than other insects or treatments due to the time it would take just to clean one plant..... As for the lights try to keep them about 1"-1.5" away from the tips if you can. Oh shit,I just looked at your post again, x2 600 watt bulbs? Better back em' up about 2'-3' feet away from tops. Uh, that sounds like a lot of F@#$ing clones man, you can put the Q-tips away now.........you just went big time and I am sooooo a newbie! God, I hope your lights are vented, heat and clones don't mix too! 12,000 watts seems like a lot of light for cuttings man! With 12,000 watts you could give 240 square feet 50 watts a square foot.... I really think you should wait for some advice from the big boy crew, the more I think about this the less sense it makes too me....Maybe you should think about getting some insects- www.wormsway.com can help you decide what to use and ship them to you.....(toll free #, pay phone, money order) If your going to use chems to try and control them until your little warriors arrive make sure whatever your using now won't kill whatever it is that you order too!!! Yet another good question for Worm's Way.....please let everyone know what happens with all this, you can never know too much- DAM, now I'M so confused.... I have to go read more now............ :o (you guys need to get a smiley with his tail betwen his legs....)
