Listen,

Buying tobacco or alcohol in the U.S. likely is funding America's war on drugs. Since Tobacco and Alcohol are in the intoxicant biz, the legalization of pot would be a direct competition to tobacco and alcohol. If there was a way for the U.S. to tax and regulate pot properly, it would already be legal. Since it is so easy to grow, legalization would mainly lead to citizens private cultivation. Many citizens in the states are probably ready to cultivate, the only catch is marijuana's illegality. If it were legal, many growing opperations would spring up in spare bedrooms and basements across america. Why would you go to the corner store for a pack of joints, when you can grow you're own? Few would, many would not. Since Tobacco cultivation is comparatively more difficult than marijuana cultivation, the US is able to have a monopolistic hold on the industry through sin taxation of products, generating copious revenue.

It is also probable that many tobacco companies have logos for pot products already regerstered. Templates for packaging of pot products are lying in harddrives of Phillp-morris (US tobacco company) office computers...Just in case...

The big tobacco & alcohol companies have representatives in Congress ready to contest any pro-cannabis legislature that comes through the House. They funnel cash to the administration in the White house to buy favoritism. they churn out propaganda in the form of anti-drug commercials and advertisments. Such propaganda usually involves fear tactics like children's safety to blind the population into thinking cannabis is dangerous..

The Bush Admin. also must realize that the drug war is another tool for them to use to mask other scandalous activities it is involved in. Media is in the conspiracy theory as well, NBC (US tv network) is owned by GM, who is involved in many of the defense contracts in Americas war in Iraq. Defense contracts are Serious money. We are talking a Billion dollar a year industry. To distract Americans at home watching the evening news, NBC might cover the domestic drug war, and let stories about the death tolls in Iraq slide. If enough Americans are blinded, the US can spend more time in Iraq and more contracts can be drafted. Meanwhile, the Bush Admin. uses any distraction they can to divert attention away from a war conducted largely under false pretenses and manufactured evidence. Such distractions include, but are not limited to, Natural disaters, Steroid scandals in Major League Baseball, and the drug war.

In closing, I would like to state that most of the text in this essay is not based on any fact, and is merely speculative. It is hard, though, to understand any other reasoning why a government allows such lethal and dangerous substances to maintain legal, while other, decidedly less harmful substances remain beyond the allowance of the law. We must raise awarness of a largely failing drug war that is wasting american tax dollars and loosing support of said taxpayers if we want change to occur. Enjoyers of Marijuana, I encourage you all to please vote, and make you're voice be heard.

You bring up some interesting points.

The CIA pretty much controls media and whatnot... Ads and news are just propoganda tools, it's true. I wanna know how ANYONE could even trust the US government after all the BLUEBIRD and MKULTRA & NAOMI operations. THEY OBVIOUSLY TRYING TO CONTROL EVERYTHING THEY CAN. And things that they can't control are not allowed... and they'll do anything to stop the production of these things, wether it means making it illegal or using scare tactics and propoganda. The Earth is turning into big fear sphere... Americans and Canadians especially (With their lack of mystic beliefs) are afriad of EVERYTHING. We all have an irrational fear of something but North Americans can be made afraid of the simplist, least dangerous things. It's funny. "Oh no, them Negroids... and their devil weeds! It's what makes 'em crazy and what makes them harm our white females blah lets just ban the weed... or better yet, eliminate the Niggers!" "No, we can't do that! That would be unconstitutional!"... "Fine but we can still ban that evil plant!"
