Would it be possible to hook a grow light up to a car battery or other battery of some sort or a small generator? They monitor the electricity in the apartment we live in so regular electric is out of the question.

Dude are you seroius???

I would reccomend if youre really seroius about starting to grow, that you move into a place where you receive your electric bill directly, and pay it on time every time.

it's not going to use that much electricity anyways. Unless your are trying to grow a million plants. Just keep it small. grow a few plants and don't use excess amounts of light. use cfl's for veg and then use a hps for flower.

if u use a couple of compact flourecent lights (energy saver bulbs) no-one will probably even notice the increase in power as they r like normal room lights(plus energy saving)...im sure anywho's lol i advise to check dont want u getting caught now do i lol


also you could maybee put a cfl in your bathroom light and put plants in tub when your at work? or not using tub? :thumbsup: :dance:

Youd be surprised how much growing 5-10 plants in your house will jack up ur electric bill. Just having 1 or 2 600 watt bulbs on almost all the time will produce a noticable spike in your bill.

Your expense is going to vary town to town.I run 1000w switchables.Each unit only increases the bill $40 each.For that $ I can grow 16,5 gallon containers plus 10-12 1 gal. cont. in an approx. 7.5 X 7.5 lighted space.-usdi Agaluga

400w-600w lights are like running a computer...I am workin on a windmill for power...
build a small windmill, then get a pulley system, run a fan belt to a generator, attach that to a car battery, then a converter DC to AC...then as Tim the "toolman" said...MORE POWER...latewood
