In 1930, a new division in the Treasury Department was established -- the Federal Bureau of Narcotics -- and Harry J. Anslinger was named director. This, if anything, marked the beginning of the all-out war against marijuana.
Harry J. Anslinger
Anslinger was an extremely ambitious man, and he recognized the Bureau of Narcotics as an amazing career opportunity -- a new government agency with the opportunity to define both the problem and the solution. He immediately realized that opiates and cocaine wouldn't be enough to help build his agency, so he latched on to marijuana and started to work on making it illegal at the federal level.
Anslinger immediately drew upon the themes of racism and violence to draw national attention to the problem he wanted to create. Some of his quotes regarding marijuana...
================================================== =====
"There are 100,000 total marijuana smokers in the US, and most are Negroes, Hispanics, Filipinos, and entertainers. Their Satanic music, jazz, and swing, result from marijuana use. This marijuana causes white women to seek sexual relations with Negroes, entertainers, and any others."
"...the primary reason to outlaw marijuana is its effect on the degenerate races."
"Marijuana is an addictive drug which produces in its users insanity, criminality, and death."
"Reefer makes darkies think they're as good as white men."
"Marihuana leads to pacifism and communist brainwashing"
"You smoke a joint and you're likely to kill your brother."
"Marijuana is the most violence-causing drug in the history of mankind."
And he loved to pull out his own version of the "assassin" definition:
"In the year 1090, there was founded in Persia the religious and military order of the Assassins, whose history is one of cruelty, barbarity, and murder, and for good reason: the members were confirmed users of hashish, or marihuana, and it is from the Arabs' 'hashashin' that we have the English word 'assassin.'"

the whole reason pot was first outlawed was because the goverment was trying to keep the mexicans from coming over the border and causing trouble. Reefer madness was filmed to scare the general masses into thinking it makes you crazy. add the two and you get a general disbelife that pot is bad and makes you crazy.
edit: and mexicans are crazy............. just kidding

Has anyone ever seen the movie grass? it is an awsome documentry on the Us war on marijuana. It is an awsome, informative movie with the narration done by Woody harrelson . It talks ALOT about angslinger and all his dumb shit. It is a great movie. It doesnt say that pot is completey harmless, and every pothead is a saint, but does do a good job of showing that the government propaganda were fed is far from the truth.
The idiot was behind the infamous Marijuana Tax Act in 1937, providing framework for federal regulation. Here is a few other "campaign" quotes brought fourth by The first US drug Czar
"An entire family was murdered by a youthful addict in Florida. When officers arrived at the home, they found the youth staggering about in a human slaughterhouse. With an axe he had killed his father, mother, two brothers, and a sister. He seemed to be in a daze? He had no recollection of having committed the multiple crime. The officers knew him ordinarily as a sane, rather quiet young man; now he was pitifully crazed. They sought the reason. The boy said that he had been in the habit of smoking something which youthful friends called ??muggles,? a childish name for marijuana."
"Colored students at the Univ. of Minn. partying with female students (white), smoking [marijuana] and getting their sympathy with stories of racial persecution. Result pregnancy"; or "Two Negros took a girl fourteen years old and kept her for two days under the influence of marijuana. Upon recovery she was found to be suffering from syphilis."

Anslinger was appointed to the lifetime, non-elected office that made laws by the Secretary of treasury. Mr. Mellon of the Mellon Bank. Mr Mellon created the Federal B of Narcotics for Mr Anslinger because Anslinger had just married the daughter of Mr. Mellon. Mr Mellons bank had lent the Duponts a lot of money and owned stock in them. They had a new chemical and patents they got from the Nazis in the war, called nylon. So Dupont, well it went on. But Henry J Assinaslinger is all part of the conspiracy to kill industrial and medical hemp. No one really cares about smokers, they just make good prisoners for slave labor.
Here have a bud from todays cutting room floor, screw those asswipes, we will get them.

I have a huge paper on the subject. He was a super dick. But a pawn of the Powers. He and J Edgar were the bull dogs of the Powers as they took our country and raped it. Cannabis is such a small part of the story, yet 800 trillion dollars is what they have made from its illegalization in profits. So that is some dosh. Mostly on synthetics that took the place of industrial and medical cannabis at that time. Cant patent a weed, but sure can a synthetic! better living through chemistry.
I HATE those guys!

UGH I feel like a retard. I gave a speech on legalizing marijuana the other day and i SWEAR TO GOD i came upon a site that quote Anslinger as saying "marijuana leads to non-violence and pacificism" as in, he was backing it up. My source must have been fucked up.. i sure hope my teacher doesn't research my quotes.....

How dare those darkies think they're on the same level as us and have sex with our women!
I've said for years that if you support the war on drugs you support racism. Even if you look into the history of opium, the first city to ban it was San Francisco, and it wasn't even banned in the whole city. It was only illegal in Chinatown (I wonder who they were targeting), so if you were in a white part of the city, you waste your life away in a dream....
But seriously, if you're interested in thing that Anslinger did that were fucked up here's another one: The La Guardia Committee Report (http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/Library/studies/lag/lagmenu.htm) (note the conclusions under the sociological study) was published in 1944 And the first thing Anslinger does is have the white house discredit it. After this report came out, he also convinced FDR that if scientists had access to pot for study, it would compromise national security. Also if anyone came out with a pro pot stance they were automatically labeled communists.
All the war on drugs has done is promote poverty, racism, elitism and gummed up our prison system top the point that they let murderers out early so they can lock up a non-violent drug offender. The next time someone says they support the war on drugs, call them a RACIST and BIGOT!

Yes, after a couple of decades claiming marijuana was the most violence causing drug in the history of the world, when it was in the hands of white woman/music corrupting negroes and revolutionary mexicans pre-WWII, without blinking an eye or facing nary a question from anyone but Theo Laguardia, Anslinger did indeed begin to claim that it was being used by the commies to corrupt our soldiers' will to fight post WWII.
And if that doesn't make sense, why it's just that the reefer has twisted your mind.

No, your report is correct. Once it was illegal many killers, robbers, in fact everyone used cannabis as an excuse. After all if it drives you to insanity then maybe that is why you beat that guy to death. So within about 2 years they went totally the opposite and said it leads to lethargy, and loss productivity in life, peace loving. Certainly not something to blame for killing anyone. Too many people were escaping jail and Anslinger was actually testifying in court cases that it drove you to insanity. Big daddy Mellon told him to stop the testimony and change the message. Jails must be filled to keep the corporate profits of Jail Inc. up. You do know that jails are private corporations designed to maximize profits on their "assets."
Yes, conflicting messages seem to abound when you have to back up a lie. You may be marked for ommission on the insane stuff, but not the non-violent. It is the maxum of rulers; scare them into the law, then do whatever you want to them.

I know I only make short comments. I am just lazy.
The next documentary on weed should talk about how users on Cannabis.com come together to socialize freely via the internet. A tool that is helping with the organization and fight for decrimilization.

You know if the U.S. Gov't was that corrupt backthen with the cannabis & race issue, just think how criminal they have been for the past 40yrs or so, especialy these last 5 yrs. Just think about. See the kind of stuff they pulled to make cannabis a crime along with blacks & mexicans, Just think about what they would do to go to war to gain certain prize to gain more riches.. Remember 911 and all the oddity surrounding it..
