I was talking to my mom about marijuanna laws of course I only brought up it for medicinal use but it ended up going to recreational use and she agreed with me about if alcohol and cigarettes are legal so should marijuanna and was like you know look at the socialist countries and how they're government runs things the citizens are happier over all and they don't have the same problems that we have.
edit: I think now that the only reason why she doesn't like me smoking it is cuz it's illegal and doesn't want me to get in trouble with the law.

thats the way it usually is
if a parent doesnt mind you smoking cigerettes or drinking, chances are, they only dont want you smoking pot for legal issues

My mom cares about cigarettes but she's also really allergic but she doens't mind drinking as long as it's not out of hand and I don't drive after drinking.
edit: I think my mom did try pot cuz she was a hippie but she said she didn't when she was a teen cuz she was afraid of grandpa (her side of the family is russian-american) but that was her teens she might have smoked in college. she seems to understand it better then other parents i've met i've also met parents who smoke mary jane aswell.

You hit the nail on the head, prplchknz. Alot of people are of the mentally that "it's wrong because it's illegal, and it's illegal because it's wrong".

When given this answer you have to ask the person to forget about the legality of the issue for a second. Sure, a protective parent won't want you to do anything that could possibly effect the rest of your life, but for a second ask her to forget about the law, because the law isn't everything.

If and when she is willing to do this you have the chance to convince her of the facts, if this is even your goal. Learn about Cannabis with her; about the pros and cons (because yes, there are some downsides to smoking regularly) of it, etc, and ask to make her own opinion based on what she's learnt, but still forgetting about the legal side of things for the moment.

Explain that there are millions of people all over the world who have done the same; they have made their own opinion based on the facts, not based on what the law tells them. If after this she begins to see where you're coming from then explain that laws are not written in stone (anymore). If a law is unjust it should be changed. When people begin to see that the debate about Cannabis is not a legal debate but a moral debate then they will be less afraid to voice their true opinions or even, in some cases, make opnions of their own. Lol :p

no she understand marijuanna fairly well and knows that the government over blows its effects and makes it worse then it is; and she has fibria malgia and she takes pain pills and knows at least on some level the pills are worse for her, but she can't function with out them and she won't buy pot cuz she doesn't want to get in trouble with the law. and i don't think medicinal marijuanna is legal here and if it is it's strictly for cancer patients.
edit she's not it's wrong cuz it's illegal she's I don't want you having a criminal record. especially now that I'm over 18.

I know this for a fact cuz when I was 16 she found my pipe asked how much I smoked to make sure i wasn't go to school stoned and back then i smoked once in awhile which i still do but even less and she just gave me back my pipe. I lent it to my friend and her parents found it and threw it out she bought be a new one but then i left it new orleans. and she knew that my brother smoked aswell and didn't care too much. I know if it was crack or something else it be a whole different issue.

Oh, sorry. I must have misunderstood, dude. My bad. :) (By the way, are you a guy or a girl? I haven't figured that out yet.. Sorry.. hehe)

I know what you're going through, though. Alot of people are still a bit scared of weed simply because it's illegal, my mum included. At least now i'm at the age where I can decide for myself, though I still respect my mum's decisions by only smoking in the house when I have weed. :p

Depending on how old you are I think you just have to tell your mum that you're aware of the consequences, but that it's a risk you're willing to take for something you enjoy/believe in. Hopefully she'll understand respect that?

And if all else fails, you could always move to Canada! :)

Yeah, Ghost, get over it, I'm going with PurpleChickenz to the Senior Prom.
edit: I'm not scared because weed is illegal. I look at it as an opportunity to show the justice system that they can put an innocent person behind bars multiple times, without having any effect.
