ok guys, i really appalogize, i know im a spam whore but fuck it. so ive been lookin around my room for the perfect hiding spot. and i think i found it.
i have electrical outlets that have boxes around them. (see the pic) i unscrewed the thing, took out the actual electrical input itself. theres 3 cords behind it. black, copper, and white. if i cut those cors, take the box out, amd glue the face plate thing to the place i could just screw it back on and it would look like an outlet.
the only thing is i got shocked when i touched it. and im afraid i might start some kind of electrical fire or something cutting those cords. if anyone knows anything about this please help. heres a pic
peace guys.

ok to clear things up a bit, i would de-tatch the bage part, the thing where you would normally plug shit into, from the little black box behidn it. i would cut the cords attachting the little black box to the wall, and glue the bage thing to the face plate then screw it back on and i have a little box on the wall that looks like an imput. and a big cardboard box with legos will be moved infront of it. but yea about teh electricial thing, thats my real question. thanks in advance.

VERY VERY IMPORTANT.
Cut the breaker off in that area before you do any work.
Okay just cut the cords with a solid hard based wire cutter and with plastic or rubber handles. Make sure you are wearing gloves.
After cutting the wires buy electrical wire caps and cap the live wire off. Turn the breaker back on and you'll be done.
Just be sure to cut the breaker off otherwise you will experiences shocks , electrocutions, burns, and/or death.

ok.. for one, this is really stupid. Just cut open your matress or something dude.. BUT, if you must do this, I will try to help.
First, wait until you have the house to yourself for a few hours. Cut off the power to the outlet you'll be working on. Now, pull out the outlet and cut all the cords that are attached. Take electrical tape and wrap a LOT of it around the ends. These will be live and will shock the fuck out of you if you touch them. Stuff those wires as far back as you can and tape them down if possible, so they don't pop back out and possibly shock you. Turn the power back on, and presto. The "Pefect" Hiding Spot.

the breaker isn't in your room
You know where the power supply..when the power goes out because your pulling too much energy and you have to go flip the switch to make the power come back on?
The Fuse Box?
Any of those ring a bell?

And yeah electrical is nothing to take lightly. If you don't know what your doing make sure you read up. Just wear rubber gloves and cut the power off and you'll be safe.

i seriously doubt a 110 outlet will kill you (which is what is in the pic) but getting shocked isn't too much fun. best idea is to turn the breaker off (go outside your house and where the line from the powerlines runs to your house, near there should be a box on the side of the house that lifts up and you'll see a bunch of switches, one of them will go to your room, but the box could be in your house too) but it isn't absolutely nessicary, it's just for saftey reasons....i rarely ever turn off my breakers when working with the electricity unless it's a 220 (that can easily killl you) i just be sure to only be touching one wire at a time, because you have to be touching the positive and negative (positive is white, negative is black) wires to be shocked. one time tho, i had to fix something my grandpa went and did (he spliced an extension cord dirrectly into the breaker box) and while doing it, accidently connected the circuits of the 220....that hurt like a bitch, had some adverse side effects too such as i couldn't cordinate myself right, nor could i think right for a few days...

Why dont you just put it in a hollowed out book? Or a guitar tuner case? Or tape an altoids tin under your desk, in your closet etc... Messing with that electrical stuff is WAY too much work!

You know what, don't touch anything man! NOTHING! Find a new hiding spot.
You don't even know what a breaker is, there are thousands of watts of electricity flowing through those wires and you want to just "cut" them?! Touching the wires, the black one, is called a "live" wire. You WILL get shocked from touching that. You cut those cords in that outlet without cutting power, you WILL get electrocuted. Even if you cut the power cords, then what? You'll have no more power going to those outlets, then what will you tell mom and dad?
Find a new spot. You don't understand, obviously, how all this electrical stuff works, so I suggets avoiding it further before you shock yourself, kill yourself, or burn the house down. There are a hundred more stash spots. Using this one isn't worth the risk.

No 110 volts wont kill you...but 0.1 amps CAN! And in that outlet, there is 15 AMPS! DO NOT FUCK AROUND WITH THAT SHIT!!! I just replaced an outlet like a week ago for my mom, All you have to do to make sure you dont get fried is TURN OFF THE BREAKER/PULL OUT THE FUSE(if you have fuses) and since that disconnects tha circuit from the power you cant get electricuited. I know alot about electricity, I was actually gonna make one of those but then I got caught and found out my mom doesnt care...so i just lay my shit out in plain sight now :D

"I got a shock when I touched the wires..." That right there is a good sign he doesn't understand the science behind electricity. I'm not about to explain it to an elementery student

ok no chowderforyou, your a fuckin idiot, of course i know what electricity says, how else did u want me to say, "i was fuckin around and got shocked"..."by inseting my index finger between the electrical current of a live wire, my finger was electricitued by approximatly 110 wats..."? no dude im not a fucking nerd, i thought youd understand what i was saying. and yea if its too big of a thing to cut teh wire, cover it with caps and electrical tape then screw it back on i guess i wont do it. im sure i can find a better spot somehow.(im not gona tape a fucking altoids thing under my desk, dont play the guitar, the hollowed out book is dumb and i like my books, and my airvents come vertically down so thers nowhere to put my shit, if someone opened the vent it would all fall out....but then again, chakruh did it, so why cant i? w.e i guess i just wont do it, i cant afford getting caught and my parents would never in a million years look there. thanks anyway

its a good spot its easy to do the work required the only problem i can see is what if your mom wants to vacum your room and plugs the cord into that outlet then realizes its not getting any power and has your dad or an electrician open it up to fix it and they see your stash.

^ thats the thing thats good about it, theres a box that always sits infront of that thing, i never even knew it was there, and to the right, of that outlet, about a foot down eth wall, there is two four port outlets, that arent in use, so i think im good. since most every1 else on this thread has been an ass, can you explain what i need to do if i want to use this spot? you said the work required is easy. thanks man.

on second thought why would you even need to cut the wires back? why not just open it up, take out the outlet, use either wire nuts (google them if you dont' knoww hat i'm talkinga bout cuz they're hard to explain, yet so simple to use) or electircal tape (very important, it must be electrical tape...not duck tape, not masking tape) and push them to the side...as long as the wire casings are in tact, it wouldn't pose a threat..

um. u have to switch the power off in your room via the fuse boxs or circut breakers(just to be safe{even thu i dont do it when im dealing with electural stuf} due to the fact that my dad has tought me a lot of stuff of about that kind of stuff the only time i cut the power off is when im doing shit to the dryer plug, oven plug, water heater, and the fan in our attict, all using the higher voltage of power) just for learning shut off the power, the circuit breakers on my house our in the laundry room. then get the plastic covers for electrisity, they have different gauge wires so ask the guy at the hardware store for covers for standered home wireing, or buy the black tape, it should have UL on the in side of the roll(witch stands for united labators i belive, all they deal with a UL from what ive seen is electrisity) and wrap all of the wires in seperate sheats of tape or in there own wire covers. its preaty mutch that easy.

yea the problem is cutting the wires...if i snip those three wires, take out the little box thing, then wrap the wires in electrical tape (wearing gloves the whole time of course). it seems too easy....like something would shock me or catch fire or...yea...and i dont know which circuit cuts off electricity to my room.

10-20-2005, 01:41 AM
no no no
no cutting.
gawd lol. cut the power, then those gold screws you see holding the wires to the outlet? unscrew them and the wires pop out. then cover the wires with electrical tape or wire nuts as someone else suggested. Then push them back. They are really stiff so they will stay put. Then if you ever move out etc, you can just put the wires back in place by screwing them back in and nothing is destroyed.
edit: it appears it may be set up a lil different then a standard outlet, in which case try n find a way to unscrew the wires or somethin from another part of the outlet if that doesnt work. One way or another there should be a way to not cut them and remove them. If not... well thats some ghetto wiring lol.

Hiding weed doesn't have to this hard unless 1.) You are retarded or 2.) You have a maid/mom that comes in and cleans your room and clothes daily.
Otherwise just put it in the back of your drawer or in the pocket of some old clothes in the closet/shelf/drawer.
