I live in Ontario Canada and I've been reading a lot on how Canada is handling its dispute over the decriminalization of marijuana. I personally think that Canada will decriminalize weed in the next 3 years. Does anyone else agree??

Decriminalized doesnt mean shit except that if you get caught with under a certain amount you only get like a ticket and it is a minor mistimeaner treated like a traffic violation. Weed is "decriminalized" in Ohio in the US, where I live, but still people get fucked for having it.

Arizona tried to pass a law where you can only be charged with a Class 6 Misdemeanor (the lowest charge of all) if caught with anything under 2 ounces.

The law never passed.

They can bust you for seeds.

Of course the feds can come in and bust you whenever they want regardless of state law. State law is pretty much fucking bullshit, the DEA doesn't give two shits if weed is legal in alaska or california or wherever, as long as its US soil, they will bust you.

Nope. They can't do that for anything. That would be a dictatorship you see.

haha..

That's why you can get arrested for stagetory rape in one state but not in the other.

The age of consent for sex is DIFFERENT IN EVERY OTHER STATE

some states its as low as 15.

I still think its weird how you guys have different laws for different states, wouldn't it just be easier to have the same laws for the whole country? The States of what Michael Moore calls The Big One (The U.S.A. has no real name!) used to think of themselves as independent of one another, before the American Revolution.
And thought of themselves as nations in an alliance, much like the countries in the EU today, between the Revolution and the Civil War.

When's NZ gonna do the easy thing and merge in with Australia and their laws?
Or how bout Indonesia and their laws?!

Things used to be different, the states had all the power and federal government was only allowed to be involved in interstate issues, but then came the Great Depression. The New Dealers and FDR came into power and essentially rewrote the Constitution to give the U.S. federal government all the power, and everything has pretty much been downhill since then.

The thing about Canada is that eventhough marijuana isint decriminalized if a cop busted you with a few grams they might take it away and thats it. They wouldnt ever arrest you for having weed unless you had like an ounce. Also cops neverl ever go to someones house looking for marijuana unless someones growing tons of plants, or is suspected to.

If Canada drecminalised it might make some other western countries wake up a little, which can only be a good thing!

K well these my friends and these two guys i know were smokin at this little creek and its like behind some building in our small town with lots of trees around it. Then this guy walks by walking his dog. So we get all freaked out and like put it away then me and my friends left, but the other two guys stayed there and kept smoking. I just found out today that the cops came where they were and arrested one of them while the other one ran away before they came. The one kid got hand cuffed and taken away in a cop car, but i dont know if he got charged yet, ill tell you when i find out.

That might be why,its like in the UK you're far more likely to get into trouble if you're a young teenager smoking it than an adult, as they want to discourage youngsters I guess.

well, since january, all chance of canada decriminilizing in the next couple years went down the drain... fuckin stephen harper and his conservative government. theyre training all the cops to take weed seriously... weather they do or not is another story, but still. fuck stephen harper. and thats not even the worst of what he's doing to fuck up this country... he wants to turn us into America Junior. i hope he doesnt last long, the liberals were doing far better, in my opinion.

Depending on where you live in Canada, it is already de facto decriminalized, especially in Vancouver. Remember though to that decriminalization and legalization are 2 different things. Decriminalization means it is still illegal. It does not try to take it out of the black market. Just implies they will not send you to jail for small amounts and will give you a fine. Legalization is where it is fully controlled and regulated by the government and it is taken out of the criminal market.

No country on Earth has legal marijuana. It is only tolerated still in Holland and they will arrest you if you carry a lot of weed or grow massive amounts, although it is probably just a slap on the rest.

As with Canada, hopefully they will legalize, not decriminalize in a few years. This will really send a message to the US government on how ridiculous drug laws are in a supposed "land of the free".
