has anyone any experience with this??? or done any research??? if you dont know it is claimed that you get as good results as using a 1000w hps light, led lights use very little wattage and are warm to the touch almost cool so you dont have to use air conditioning or fans for cooling. they claim 1/5 of the energy usage so you wouldent have to worry about the electric company turning you in for high electric usage, they cannot be picked up via "heat signature" so no worry about helicoptors, if you do a search on ebay for "led lights" it brings up thousands of possibillities im sure someone could rig up some stuff, im just unsure as to what specific bulbs to use ie: uv led's ect.:? they use blue and red led's lights to grow all kinds of plants in trial's.. it would be interesting to try this...

LED grow-lights have been available for a while. I think the expense is still keeping a lot of people away. They may be less expensive to make but their low heat production makes them very desirable. This keeps prices up. Also look into fiber optic lighting if you're interested in LEDs. Same price-gouging I'm afraid but just as interesting.

yeah I see someone selling them as led grow lights on ebay but at $85 and $119 I would rather make my own. Id be interested in these if I ever decided to go big time, as using hps your electric bill would be so outragous youd probly last a week before they beat your door down with the swat team. (seem to good to be true though)

Fiberoptics, very nice. History channel did about Gardening, and they had a lil section involving fiberoptics being placed on roofs of a Garden research facility to gather the suns light and had the other end over a tomato plant indoors. Because the optics only transported the light indoors and left out all the harmful UV rays etc..the tomato plant grew to over 20ft in under 2 months
