Hey,
If I want to tailor my stone so that it is more clear and cerebral, with only a small proportion of body stone, and yet maximise the potency, when would you recommend harvesting in relation to, say, the first appearence of orange hairs.
I know that the trichomes continue to mature after harvest, and I dont want to pick too early to avoid wasting potency.
Also, if you have time, can you clarify a reliable method of drying/curing as I really dont want to fuck that up at this late stage.
At the moment, I am only half way through flowering.
Thanks very much,
Misty

Misty...
I'm unable to answer your question... I just don't have the experience or knowledge. I can tell you that HarddOn is gone... Here, see for your self:::

Sad, but true... But not to worry, Garden Knowm, or Marc Benson, or Zandor or some of these other experienced dudes will come to your rescue...
[Hey Garden! No hard feelings! I recommended you! Now... about those avatars... LOL]

Do you have a handheld microscope? The 30x to 60x are about $10 at Radio Shack and you'll be able to watch the trichs change colors. Clear is not ready, cloudy is best for the 'head high', while amber is the body stone.
At least, that's what I'm told.
The trichs, or golf balls on a tee, are really easy to keep an eye on. I was able to do it on my first grow with the microscope right out of the box.

for maximum potency, you 35 -50 %amber trics...body high(couchloch, here and beyond...
for a heady high, maximum 25% amber trics, a nice mix of clear, cloudy, amber trics...
9ski was right on, basically

Whoa, what happened to Harddon eh?
Anyhoo, he'll be missed.
but another question, what is the weed meant to smell like at various stages through drying/curing? im curing a small bit of bud that i trimmed off the bottom, [the branch was damaged, so i pruned it to add to the rest of the good buds, plus its real small] anyhoo, im curing it now and it stinks real bad!!!
any thoughts?

The smells can go anywhere from decomposing garbage to catpiss. A little bit longer and they will smell great.
