Ok, so the rainbow people (some kind of hippies) are gathered in a little town about 20 minutes from where i live, and people i know tell me that you can bring them canned food in exchange for shrooms and weed and whatever else they have and you get like 100X what you should for the value of the food. does anyone know if this is true?

10,000 paces north, 2,000,000 paces east and you're there, over.

They used to be BIG where I am, but sanitation at their meetings became an issue, and I think that new restrictions were made to keep them from 'de-sanitizing' the national parks.

That would put me somewhere in the North American Basin.

i go to the national gatherings whenever they're held out west here and can say i have never heard of any such trades going on in any kind of scale worth mentioning. it happens but it's not a common occurance and is usually not done with strangers. but it'll be more than worth your while to just show up with your camping gear and settle in for a few days. most are really cool people who prefer living off the grid (but beware of what we call, 'drainbows'...lazy sponges living as easy as they can, same as any other community. if the camp is in good shape and people invite you into their camp then i'd move in for a few days if it was around me...it's an excellent way to learn camping and survival skills.

here's a link to the rainbow news group where you can find more info and links (and the typical message board bullshit too)...

ther are sure to be folks slingin' grass, but the rainbows don't make a business of it.
beware cops going in. i was frisked and had my vehicle searched. they had set up a mini command post at the park gates.
aside from having to ask people to repeat their rainbow names ("sorry, you said Flicker Feather?"; "your name is what? Waterfly Biscuit?"), i had a great time.
seriously, tho'... i do love naked drummin' campin' hitchhiking hippies.

Yeah damnit! Damn Hippies! Shit and you are from Southern Illinios. Of course.

Rainbow people are a sort of loose cult that started in the 60's. Frankly the US had sort of a different thing happening than those who left for the trail to the east. But, they should be cool, they were then, havent talked to any in a while. Would that be Edwardsville?

Yeah, thats what I mean, sometimes ideas get carried too far. Sort of like wrapping your mind around freedom and you just want to piss anywhere, but then freedom is responsibility and pissin everywhere just aint responsibile. Back in the 60's it was different, but then so was the Haight, so was the Yellow Dawg and you guys probably never knew Sylvia from Chicago so.

Is that true?

I think Atlantis is more towards Europe. That's what my mailman told me.

Lol I love that drainbows yeah theres a hell of alot of them wandering around, then theres "the farm" I forget where there at but they have there own property, and people come there to pay some money to "live among them". I do however fail to see how your able to "live off the grid" in a national park the max stay is 2 weeks. you cannot hunt out of season, the fish are extinct for the most part (no salmon) unless you can live off of pine bark and garbage I cant see a way to do it. i think more likely is people work regular jobs for awhile save up some cash and then live cheaply with them.
