i have heard there is a correct way to boil the resin out of a pipe. its a metal piece if it matters. i have heard something like putting the pipe in a container which you put into the boiling water. well, i have no idea, so i was looking for some people that have a little expierience in this sh!t.
thanx!

I know not of the boil technique. If your objective is to clean the pipe I suggest soaking in rubbing alcohol for a few hours then wipe with a cloth of some sort, rinse with hot water, then dry. If you wish to perserve the resin for some reason or another I would scrape as much as possible from the metal, then the soak, rinse, and dry. No need to repeat for a few weeks at least.

I boil my pipes... actually I only did twice. The first time my buddy boiled a couple pipes and cooked the resin dry... This time I boiled like 6 resiney as hell pipes and got some serious thick water. So I let it distill for liek 2 weeks, and now there are huge resin nugs on the bottom and a film on top.
I do have a question though - Doesnt THC float in water? if so, would I have like almost a hash oil layer on top? It is very thin though...

if u wanna smoke ur resin an u scrape it clean ur gonna scratch the shit outta ur piece an end up smoking little pieces of metal. if u soak it in alcohol an let the shit sit on a plate the alcohol will evaporate after some time but it evaporates quicker than water an u can put it on a heating plate. but u can also boil it out an the big chunks will come out pretty easily.

Yeah, I only have glass pieces (well, only one right now, but thats cuz I'm broke and my car is broke :P )... But I just heat up the water to a boil with the piece in there (or pieces) and let it boil till they are clean, works really well... Like I said though, you have to cook the resin dry. And this last time I have noticed a oily layer forming on the top... Dunno if its worth trying to skim or not though.
