I'm reading Pride and Prejudice at the moment. God; I have a lot of favorite books. I'm going to have to go with The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. Haven't read it in years, though.. I heard the movie was great. Favorite writer.. hm.. Edgar Allen Poe and Charles Dickens are among my favorites. I like to read about anything that peaks my (ever changing) interest(s) at the moment, or anything good really. Anything that can keep me interested.

Does anyone here read? Yes.

What are you reading now? Insomnia by Stephen King.

What is yr Favourite book? There's no one answer to that...

The Dark Tower series by Stephen King.
Catch 22 by Joseph Heller.
The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy, A Trilogy in Five Parts by Douglas Adams.
The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck.
Harlequin by Bernard Cornwell.
Anything by J.R.R Tolkien.
On Writing by Stephen King.
Anything by Charles Dickens.
The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling (yes, I like them.. so sue me.. +lol+)

Who's yr favourite writer? Stephen King.

What do you like to read about? Anything. Literally.

Recommend five books you think cannabis.com users should read A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking will blow your mind.
Catch 22 by Joseph Heller will have you in fits of laughter (and confusion) right from the start.
The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy, A Trilogy in Five Parts by Douglas Adams, for the same reason.
The Shining by Stephen King will scare the crap out of you... as will most of his works.
The Dark Tower series, also by Stephen King, will keep you reading right to the last page of the seventh book.
The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling, though aimed at a younger audience than the others, is far easier to get stuck in to and is pure story all the way.

As you can see, I love to read. :)

The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy, A Trilogy in Five Parts by Douglas Adams, for the same reason.I forgot to recommend something. I'll recommend those. FUCKING HILARIOUS shit.

You did recommend those, but maybe you just meant the first one. All five are hilarious.

Have you read any of Douglas Adams' other stuff? The Dirk Gently series? I've only read The Long Dark Tea Time Of The Soul. It's a great book but nowhere near as funny as the Hitchhiker series.

If you like Douglas Adams then you'll love Catch 22 by Joseph Heller, if you haven't read it already. It's slightly harder going than the Hitchhiker series, but written much more eloquently.. and it's alot more confusing. And - dare I say it? - alot funnier at times.

I read over watching television.

I am reading Trance-formation of America by Cathy O'Brien & Mark Phillips at the moment.

No particular favorites.

I do not have a favorite writer either. I guess maybe Oscar Wilde.

I like reading about the ''Shadow Government", ''drug'' experiences, philosophy, and poetry/music lyrics if that counts. Anything you might not hear everyday is interesting.

I don't know of any books that a stoner might enjoy, the ones I know(in real life) don't read. Some people may enjoy The Doors of Perception by Aldous Huxley. Although it is not about marijuana. Maybe various books about the true face of government may be of interest.

I wasn't aware of any other works by Douglas Adams. I figured that was the only thing he did. I've heard good things about Catch 22; didn't know it was very humorous though. I'm not concerned about reading level, and I'll look into it. Anything by someone capable of being funnier than Adams is a must read. :)

I love to read and read anything. There's nothing better than smoking a fatty on a hot summers day and sinking into a good book. At the mo I've just finished reading Man & Boy by Tony Parsons. A great read, but have your tissues ready!

Peace

Excellent topics. Been going through the links in my signature?

The Doors of Perception by Aldous Huxley. Although it is not about marijuana. The influence of The Doors's (the band) name. Isn't it about mescaline? Never got around to reading that one. Heard of Brave New World? I enjoyed 1984 by George Orwell a lot more. I think that's where the "Big Brother" term was coined. You should check that one out.

1984 is an amazing book. It's very scary.

I'm obsessed with Bret Easton Ellis. He's one of my favourite writers along with Irvine Welsh and Chuck Palahinuik. His books don't always make the most sense, but i like that.

No but thanks for pointing it out man, it will be added to my endless favorite's list.

Yes The Doors got their name from it. And yes it is a systematic study of the mescaline experience and its effects. I haven't come across Brave New World, maybe I will read it after Trance-formation. Never heard of 1984...I will be sure to look into it as well.

If you haven't read it, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thomson is a fantastic read. It is pretty short, but I'm pretty sure it is mostly true (of course reflects only perception, so it must be). It is really his only book worth reading.

Tom Robbins is also a fantastic writer. Fierce Invalids from Hot Climats / Skinny Legs & All are very good.

Wow, its always so good to come across others who read in the first place! I love to read. Right now I'm reading, MARY QUEEN of SCOTLAND and the ISLES, by Margaret George. I enjoy historical novels as long as its not all about war.
My fav. book, THE MISTS OF AVALON, by Marion Zimmer Bradley
Writer? Writers! Marion Zimmer Bradley, Stephen King, Jean Auel, and Anne Rice.
Im fascinated with anything to do with Arthurian legend, horror is great, pre-historical novels turn me on, weird facts, and Celtic lore.
I have 4 six ft tall bookcases full, so for me to pick 5 to recommend......
UPPITY WOMEN OF MEDIEVAL TIMES, The TALISMAN by Stepen King/ Peter Straub, THE STAND by Stephen King, THE MISTS OF AVALON; and companion books in series, and last but not least, FART PROUDLY by Benjamin Franklin.
I really hope you look for and read FART PROUDLY, Benjamin Franklin was a bawdy old dude! In his day bathing was believed to be dangerous, and this guy was swimming nude in the Thames.

weeeee!

Well, I've nailed back a few novels over the last few years..
All of Michael Crichton's Fictional work, most of his nonFictional..but not all. I found a new Author by the name of Steve Berry...only 2 novels so far from him but damn! it's good. 2 and a half of the Lord of the ring novels also.
this, ontop of whatever reading i was nailed with in school.
*grumbles*
all in all.. i'd say about 2 dozen novels over the last 5 years.

p.s checkout "The Third Pandemic" by Pierre Ouellette

I here a lot of people talking about Douglas Adams. And no one is mentioning KURT FUCKING VONNEGUT! I read hitchikers guide to the galaxy. Douglas Adams imitates KV without bieng half as funny. Someone said they would try any writer funnier than Douglas Adams. Pick up a copy of Kurt Vonnegut's Breakfast of Champions. In addition to bieng the best book I have ever read it is by far the funniest.

I hear alot of people talking about Steven King. I was overjoyed to hear somebody finally mention THE STAND. My second favorite book.

Chuck Palanuik's Fight Club is worth a read but nothing else of his is.

Oh. And East of Eden by John Steinbeck ties for first as my very favorite book.

That just plain bullshit. Palahniuk happens to be my favorite author and I would seriously recommend all of his works. My favorites(In order):

Survivor
Fight Club
Invisible Monsters
Choke
Lullaby

In the process of reading his newest: the Haunted.

Also check out Carlos Castaneda's books. He writes about being the apprentice to Don Juan a Yaqui indian sorcerer in mexico. If your interested in the spiritual use of peyote or mushrooms these are the books for you.

I've never heard of Kurt Vonnegut. But i'll definately look out for Breakfast of Champions. :)

It's funny; I have almost all of Stephen King's works, but I haven't got round to reading The Stand yet. It's just that i've acquired most of his books recently so haven't had time to read them all yet.. And for every book of his I finished I acquire two more.. +lol+

I want to preface my comment by saying that chuck palinuik's fight club is certainly an exception.

Chuck Palinuik works on fucking shock factor alone. He can't come up with a decent story line so he just crams as much gruesome shit into his novels as he possibly can. And this is not some uneducated statement. I gave him more than a chance by suffering through three more of his novels after reading (and enjoying fight club.) What ever talent he had in him was used up after his first novel. He's just writing to collect a paycheck now.

There are too many great books out there to waste time on that hack. And I mean HACK! I don't use that word lightly.

Whoa, Das Boot used the word hack. -backs up- I've never seen him use that word lightly guys.

Anyway, I disagree with you.

my fave book is Ender's Game by Orson Scott card. And it's probably only my favorite book because I just read it last week and my favorite book is usually my most recently read book.

Im not answering any of the other questions for time purposes. Im a very busy man. Very busy.
