It's all about your lights. If you only use top light you are only lighting the top 1/3rd of your plant anything under is waste and will not have bud or very little bud. Soil Dude must grow outside, completely different story. My thread (how's my girls looking) I flowered at 2 feet and had some side lights too and got very little on the bottom 1 foot. Nearly nothing. I did not have much in the way of reflectant like mylar or flat white walls. I got my white walls now and will start to bud in the next day or two at about 1 foot. My brother is an outside soil dude and we argue about some of this but I am slowly turning him to the light. How much light = how much harvest. Inside you grow a bunch of smaller ones so the light can penetrate the canopy. Lot's of little ones make one tall one. If you want tall plants load up on side lights, all you can handle. Try not to listen to soil dude unless he grows inside then go look at his lighting. Hope this helps I am still learning as well. Try not to listen to any one not growing inside or hydro. All the info you need is here.

if your indoors... then the opposite is true.. anything over 3 feet is a waste of time.... UNLESS....

UNLESS>>>>

UNLESS>>>>>

you are a magician like ZANDOR!

WITH the following situation:

one - 1000 watt hps
10 plants in 4x4 area

you should flower when the plant is no taller than 12 inches.

That means you clone when your plant 10 inches (4-8) nodes

let grow for 5-10 days and then flower..

Any branch more than 12 inches from an HPS is really a waste!

sad but true
