Worms in the roots [Archive] - Green Grass Forums

Hi,
i use a bubbler system and some buckets are infested with little white worms with a black head that seem to eat the roots or contaminate the plant. Does someone know what's that mess and how to get rid of these fucking worms ? With H202, how much ?

I haven't been in it long but I don't remember reading about worms in hydro water. I would like to know also. Sounds strange. Are they effecting the plant very bad ? I would like to see a pic of them. It might help the guru's.

doesn;t sound good.. Were the buckets dirty to start with? how did the worms get there? How come they don't drown.?

I guess you want answers not more quetions ?

Yeah... start with some Hydrogen peroxide...

how much? 3tsp per gallon of 3% H2o2... the kind you by at walmart for 99 cents.

The worms probably won't like that .. : ) a pic would be nice..

Thanks, Garden... I used a bucket lid to grow bamboo with a bubbler and natural light. I guess that some flies or kind of insect contaminated that lid. After i used the same lid to grow AK47 from seeds and i noticed that a few worms were beneath the lid and on the netpots. I put a little H202 but 2 weeks later i found other worms on the roots. They seem to eat the roots, that's the problem. The plant after is very light green, with weird colors on the leaves. The worms don't drown because they stay over the water level hung in the roots. Sorry can't take pics, can't connect my digital camera to my computer, computer is too old. So every day, i check the roots and kill the worms between to fingers. I will try more H202.

I also seem to have somewhat of a worm prob but they are NOTHING like the ones people seem to be talking about. Really skinny maybe a mm across and 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch long. Like a tan color w/ slightly darker segmented stripes. They are too small to get any decent pic of it with the Kodak easy share i have. Any idea what these could be? It sure dosent seem like any caterpillar ive ever seen. I haven't yet seen them on the plants at all (on or off light cycle) they just seem to be in the dirt I saw one and the other one I have seen was in this tray thing I have under the bucket to fill w/ water and keep the humidity up.

I lied its not segmented it almost looks like its full of blood. Ive got a picture, of it. ill attach it here.

Just sprayed the plants and surrounding area with Safer bug stuff. That should take care of it.I hope.

Once again...you need to start your own threads, as hijacking another's thread is considered rude. And in both cases I've seen so far, your situation is different than the topic at hand. I'm pretty sure this is the last time I'm going to be nice about pointing this out.

I know its not cool to lose my temper but I followed the rules and I still got bitched at. Ive got an IQ of 154 for god sakes Just because I dont know everything about one certain plant dosent mean I dont know everything else.

OK this is the last thing Im gonna say about it because im long past being 14 yrs old and this aint Facebook. As far as I know its a place to learn and share not bicker and nit-pick.... So to get something strait I had gotten stoned and forgot about the other thread and therefore had not posted anything on either of them after you told me not to so the time that they were posted DOES matter.

And you cant prove that Einstein didnt smoke where do you think he got all of his ideas from? Some say that smoking goes back to the 3rd or 4th century b.c. ---and if there were actually a God, which there isnt, the bible talks about "the tree of life", so whats that all about?

If you know how to retract a thread tell me how. I couldnt find it or there are other posts I would have taken out.

fhydro: Although I'm not a hydro guy at all, use care with the hydrogen peroxide...it will kill roots if overdone. Do not use the H2O2 straight out of the bottle. I've heard of a 4:1 ratio (water to H2O2) for worms in the roots, but have never had the issue myself.

Blankstairs: Actually, all you had to say was you saw the other post and now understand about hijacking other's threads. But no...you prefer to try and defend your selfish position, then claim you were stoned, (as if that were a valid excuse) then you go on to say you'd remedy the situation if you knew how. Are you sure about your "being past 14 yrs old" statement...?
