I`m a new grower so never tried to clone before but i have one plant in my current grow that is growing way above all my expectations!! It`s only a month old now but is really bushy with masses of secondary growth and way ahead of the rest.
Today i noticed a tiny female preflower and i`m realising the fact that this could turn out to be a great mother plant.
I`ve read allsorts of weird and wonderful ways of getting the best success rate at cloning but to be honest most of it goes a bit over my head!!
Can anyone recomend a really easy way to clone??
I`m growing in dirt by the way so no hydroponic advice please.
will i get a half decent success rate if i just cut them -- dip them in rooting powder and then put them in a decent soil in a propogator or am i wasting my time??? And my shoots!!!!!
I`m just looking for a very cheap and easy way to do this.
I`ve heard that the rooting gel is better than the powder??????
Please any tips or advice on this very greatly appreciated!!

P.S. I don`t grow cannabis by the way !! only tomatoes!!

get rockwool cubes..
soak the cubes in water..
get razor blade and make cutttings...
put cutting in cube...
Keep cube moist..NOT DRENCHED
put cubes under CFL light - 4 inches above
7 days later your clones will have legs (roots)
now you know!!
: )
happy cloning

here are my experiences (and i have cut a LOT of clones for friends)
first of all i'd suggest a hydro system (i.e. ez-clone or selfmade one's) , but since that's what you don't want i'll talk about my "soil ways" ;)
i have taken cuttings off a healthy motherplant (about 3 nodes are on the cutting, and i cut about an inch below a node) in an approx 45 degree angle with a SHARP razorblade..
then i trimmed them off shortly below the lowest node (remove the leaf of course), and then dipped them into clonex.
like this i put them into jiffy's, those into a tray to hold all of them and that into a small plastic "green house".. the bottom of this greenhouse was filled with nutrient and it was heated, the jiffy's on that tray (with holes) didn't fully stand in the water, but it touched them).. then i put the hood on top of the greenhouse, leaving a little hole open (i had this "slider" on the greenhouse-top) for some fresh air and circulation (i let a small fan blow by that hole, not into!).. this hole was still so little that there was still approx 90% humidity in there.. this top was opened twice a day for new air :)
i kept the temp at 25 degrees celsius and had approx 85% success after 9 days.. (which might not sound good to some of you, but i'm talking about thousands of plants here)
the nutrient/water mix in this green house, had usually a PH of 5.5 to 6.3 and a EC of 1,0 to 1,4
cloning worked better using a self-built cloning system (with mister) though, but for the "homeuse" this solution is definitely the cheaper and easier way

Thanks for the input guys
Just a few questions??
If i clone using rockwool cubes can i plant these cubes straight into the soil once they have rooted ?
And also ..... u mention about trimming all the leaves off the clone `trummel` - i have read that leaves should be left on as the plant has no roots at this stage to feed from so relies almost entirely on foliar feeding.
Keep the leaves or ditch them?????????
Thanks agen for the replies - you lot are a god send

Cheers for them links Latewood. Think i read one of them briefly before but it all sorta went over my head. I`m gettin to grips with it all a bit better now.
I`ll no doubt make many mistakes though but that`s where the real learning curve is!!
Thanku all agen for ur help ;)

no, i guess i didn't explain it properly..
of course you should keep the leaves on the clone!
i was NOT talking about taking off all leaves off the clone, i just meant the one leaf at the lowest node where you do the cut. that's the part that you dip into the rootgel :)
