You'll know when there's talks of a sale because there will be 5+ page thread going in the lounge about it :p

I think Ron just wanted to make people aware of the growing financial burden he faces in running this site. In his own post about the sale he said he hoped it would encourage more people to become Cafe members. It's worth it, I think.

No sale likely any time soon ...

I put it on Ebay twice ... first time, there was a $125,000 USD bid, second time the top bid was $250,000 USD. Both likely real because they were in a range similar to multiple offers I've received privately.

Off Ebay, the top bonafide offer I've received to date is close $300,000 USD with three other serious current offers in the $250,000 USD range.

All offers so far are way short of the $1 Million USD minimum I'd even consider for letting CANNABIS.COM go; even if ever sold, I'd likely remain involved as a consultant to any new owner.

On a related topic ... in regards to change ... it's very likely that any future buyer would start by keeping CANNABIS.COM the way it is, and then make incremental improvements much like I'm doing now...

Could a buyer come out of the woodwork ... definitely possible ... CANNABIS.COM has a lot going for it ... good branding / generic domain, name of a category (increasingly of interest to investors), lots of visitors (quality traffic), and is overall, a large, active site with much quality content.

Well, back to work ... more stuff to add and improve ... ie. check out the cann.com Medical and Research sections - newly added content this past week.

even if ever sold, I'd likely remain involved as a consultant to any new owner.

That's cool, do any prospective buyers know that?

Don't take time out of your work to answer my questions, but if everybody said what you said (and followed through) then we'd have nothing in the world but teachers, owners, and patrons. That would put teachers on top and start a revolution. Go for it, Ron.

The highest offer received jumped to $500K last week by a group of investors ... but at this point, the lowest I'd consider letting cann.com go is about a million - and even that amount is questionable being that I'm now putting a lot more effort and money into growing cann.com bigger and better.

The higher the final sale price, the more likely the buyer would keep me in the loop, at least initially; keeping things mostly the same initially - in my view, it would be very foolish for any buyer, other than perhaps one who is already very familiar with the needs of folks here, to jump in and make changes without some guidance from me.

I'm in the process of adding a lot of new stuff - an article section (as some folks have suggested here), more multimedia (ie. scroll down to 420 Quilt on the cann.com page - it's basic right now during testing, but really cool nevertheless - scroll around and zoom into any image without leaving the homepage), and more visitor features, such as the ability for folks to upload their own cannabis related videos / audio (podcasts), etc.
