WTF Am i Doing worng? Pleasehelp me out with this shit

I have no clue what im doing wrong. Every thing i read say Hang buds in a dark cool place with fan circulating air untill stems will snap then take buds and put them in mason jars for 4 to 7 days. I DID ALL THIS I STILL HAVE A MOLDY SMELL I EVEN TRYED THE PAPER BAG WAY WTF PLEASE GIVE SOME INPUT. heres some pix of my bubblisious

Thats a good looking bud you got there.. Im no expert but I though you cure it longer than 4-7 days, more like 2-3 weeks... but probably not your problem.. Are you letting some air get into the jar...Dont you sometimes open the lid to let it air out.. there must still be some moisture in there... I am just guessing.. I am sure someome will be able to help you out... What strain is that? sorry I couldnt be much help.. I would like to see what the solution is

i get the nasty smell before i put it in the jars. i get the smell the 24 hours after hanging them. And its not like i dont let em dry enought because there crispy when i put it in jars. aggghh!!

Here is how you do it....

1. Dry them in well ventilated air so that the hairs and leaves are crispy on the outside. This should take about 3 -4 days.

2. After that, you want to begin to draw out the deeper mositure that makes it smell moldy. Get a paper bag.....place a peice of plastic or a trash bag on the bottom so the paper bag doesnt soak up any resin. lay down a couple of buds....side by side....not on top of each other. Roll the bag top closed. THIS IS THE CRUCIAL STEP....They must be in there for at least 5 - 7 days! Once a day, unroll the paper bag and let the gases out and then re-roll the bag closed.

This will remove the deep moisture that makes stuff smell like shit or hay or wet grass. This step is most often the part people don't do and it results in dirt smelling weed.

3. Now for the final cure process, you can place it in jars and once or twice a day, open and close the lid. THis part will make the smoke super smooth but at this point, the weed should be completely dry with the only dampness coming from the resins.

At this point the stem should snap when dry

it takes a month or even 2 or more to properly cure your bud to it's full taste and potency potential...the more patient you are the more you will enjoy the fruits of your labor...

harddon's post has some useful info in there..

for people not starting a grow right away i'd suggest drying in the closet/grow chamber/whereever they are growing, because that should be fully light and smell-proof anyhow (and you don't want anyone else to smell your buds, after they're already harvested ;))
just leave the ventilation and the filter on the lowest setting for a few days, and then prepare them accordingly (harddons paper-bag solution sounds interesting, and should logically work pretty well)

inner moisture is the huuuuge killer of firm and big buds, and can be a pain in the a$$.. i've seen huge top buds being thrown away because of this and it's always a sad view :( (no, you wouldn't want to smoke molding buds) so getting this right is important :)

we've had buds being cured for over 6 months (but that was for storage as well) and they were a grade a smoke ;)

I hang mine for 4 to 5 days , with a ocsilating fan on low on them in semi dark area (lights off and on as we use the room for other things).Then i trim them all, put them in sealed containers,and put them in the bathroom closet with the bathroom fan runing 24,7.I take the lids off 2 to 3 times a day until its fully dryed (i.e. the bowl fires up good ,but doesnt burn up quick) .Hope the info helps

What exactly does sealing them in a container and then turning on the bathroom fan 24/7 accomplish?

I am telling you gang.....vegging, flower, harvest and cure....are all equally time consuming and equally as important.

You MUST dry your stash properly if you want it to smell nice. Hanging is just the beginning.....you must have patience and carry to the next step.....deep drying and moisture extraction....

Done in the paper bag.....or....even the beer boxes with those little cardboard squares in there.....make sure you close the lid.....but the paper in the bag or box you use will albsorb the moisture from the air emitted by the dying flower. VERY IMPORTANT :)

OK, I have to comment even though topic was well covered by my bud bud, Harddon
!st the bag method is not H's, but the correct method, or second stage of drying/curing, after you dry it for a week...
The method I use is the same, but I want to say...when you hang your plants in the dark during the first week, the fan should NOT be POINTED at the plants, but angled at the wall or something, so that the plants get an indirect breeze, this keeps them from drying too fast and drying out! then when you can snap a medium sized stem
you put them in paper bags, as H has said, and open them once or twice a day to allow air in for the purpose of keeping your stash from getting moldy...
After a week or two when they seem dry and scrunchy(for lack of a better word,)
put them in mason jars (airtight) stash them in the dark! (Light kills THC) and open jars every day for 20-30 minutes.
As I said before; If you want the best possible taste and smoothness, you MUST be PATIENT, and stay out of your stash! You will be thankful for the wait, in a month or so...Sorry for the Rant, but I thought I could clarify all the good info here.

Not that this really applies, but I find that no N in final 2-3 weeks of flower really sweetens both overall smell and taste. I have a strain (commercial) that if sealed or bagged too early, will taint the smell. But, doesn't really effect the taste. The second step, slow drying in paperbags, (I use boxes from the office supply) is the most crucial for smell(imo).
