Marijuana makes you dumber?!?!?

Many people say that weed kills your brain cells and makes you dumb. Well I have a theory. Have you ever broken the hand that you write with? Well if you have then you had to write with your opposite hand which was very difficult. but eventually you got the hang of it and could write reasonably well with that hand, but once your writing hand healed and you went back to it it took a couple of days to get used to writing with it again. Well I believe that the same thing happens with weed. You function fine up until you start smoking weed. Then when you get high you have a very hard time functioning and once you come down you are back to normal. Eventually after being high enough your mind and body adapts to being high and you are able to function fine, but when you are not high you might be a little off for a few days until your mind and body get used to not being high.

If anyone agrees with this or if anyone has any other theories post them.

Being high is just like being drunk although a different sensation, it may be a better substance than alcohol but its still a drug which chances your perception of reality.

He's saying that at first you may become slightly "dumber" but after your body gets accustomed to the change, you start to function normally as if you were sober (well almost anyway).
I think it definitely makes you slower, but not dumber.

Cannabis can affect your short term memory. Maybe thats why some people fall under the myth that it makes you dumber.
Personal experience tells me that it makes you smarter.

Cannabis enhances your nervous system, increases blood flow to the brain. Studies on IQ show that doing something differently will make you smarter. Now...when youre high everything seems different. To me this indicates a good possibility that cannabis can be used as a tool to learn beyond the constricts of a sober mind. :)

Thats funny I'm just finding this out recently. It feels like every time i get high i just kinda learn a little more about functioning in the "high world" some of the stuff caries over from the sober world but you still have to figure stuff out again, like driving, when i was a beginner smoker i had to learn to drive high, it was pretty hard but now i can do it no problem also when i started my thought processes were more slow and cloudy now I'm pretty much as fast as I am in sober life. Except I'm more creative and it makes my fucking job so easy (im a telemarketer)


Anyways I'm high, so if that didn't make any sense then fuck you!

That is correct. But he gets his stuff from school, and that is what they teach them these days. Propaganda. Alcohol kills brain cells and destroys the liver and kidneys. It is so funny how they get things reversed in school.

Many schools may say it, and parents, but it that does not make it medical fact. Which, as nickx760 clearly points out, it has not been proven to kill brain cells. Of course it is early in the 4000 year history of the plant and things may change.

i suck in conversations, and dont really bother doing much.. thats a choice tho.

but yeah when my rents talk to me i never kno what to say. alcohol does fuck me up more tho. and bongsmith your theory doesnt actually make sense. You would litrally have to regain access to brain cells, and remember things for no reason, and become alot more inteligant out of nowhere.

And because people arent used to being high, why should that just MEAN that they are stupid when they get high, and seemingly realise how to be smart.
