Perhapse I'm mistaken, but I think melatonin is the brain chemical that helps you relax and fall asleep. whether it's melatonin levels of cannabinoids that cause this, or perhapse both, who knows.

Italian researchers studied subjects and found it to be true. I believe, it was 1986.

And here's more information on Melatonin.

But, that site says nothing about marijuana.

oh, i was under the impression that melatonin was a chemical that is associated with aging, and i read somewhere that marijuana can increase melatonin levels which in turn slows down the aging process causing you to live longer than average, i just wanted to know if this is true

It is associated with aging. We're born with none and rely on breast-milk to get it. Around puberty, we're at our peak levels and then at 30 years, we have a steep decline. When you're about 60, we have very little at all, if any. Then we die.
My point is: If we continually raise our Melatonin levels 4,000%, then why can't we live forever?
