Hello people,

Here, I'm finally able to upload pics. [Thanks HEMPAMASTA!]

I'm about to build my first cabinet closet grow, and I'd like your input. I'm uploading a picture that has the drawings for the cabinet. For clarity's sake, I've removed the front door/wood panel, and I've also removed the right wood panel (wall).

Here's how it breaks down:
The big chamber, is for the main grow... The reflector will be setup inside the cabinet, at the highest possible placement (the reflector is 10.5" tall).

The chamber below the main grow, is the chamber for housing the basin (water bucket) for the hydro NFT system on top. Inside, there will also be housed the water pump (for the NFT) and an aquarium air pump (4 stones inside the basin).

The upper chamber on the right will be the 'control room'. It will contain: ballast, power outlet strips, timers (so far, 3 of them), etc.

The lower right chamber will house the mother plant and a small space for making the clones. The mother plant and the clones will have individual 6" pots with bubbler systems ("Deep Water Culture") each.

Please let me know as much suggestions and information as you can. Everything is welcome.

Thanks everyone!

You mentioned lighting and grow space. What about ventilation? This is what i do. I have a veg/clone chamber. Then i have my flower box. Each one is ther own seperate box. I started with six clones. When those six got big enough to flower, i transplanted to the flower box. Instead of keeping one as a mother plant, i took two cuttings from each lady that was being moved. After six clones showed signs of rooting, i made room for only six of them. I have a six site system and thats why i go with six. Maybe you don't need to have a mother plant site. Just a suggestion.

Maybe this will help you with to get an idea of your own.

Happy Growin!!!!!!!1 :D :D :D

Puff420,
Thanks for the ideas and the pics... As to ventilation, here's what I had thought out:::

There are TWO independent air systems in the cabinet; 1- Plant's air, 2- Lights reflector's air.
Both systems take air from the outside (right side) and push them through, again, to the outside (left side of the box).
1- Plant's air:
The air comes from the right side wall of the cabinet, in through the lower level of the 'mother room'.

....

Ok, this shit is getting mightly complicated.... what you say I draw the fans and stuff in AutoCAD and then I re-upload new pics... I think that'll be better than writing all this stuff down.

Thanks for the input and ideas! Please keep them coming....

PS: The grow room is going to be 19" x 29" aproximately... what size of lights? How many plants? I've asked this before, but Now I think that the idea is more concrete.

I was thinking of buying a dual-ballast 1000W system... and using the 600W HPS bulb only... in the future, when space permits, all I've got to do is plug-in the other 400W MH bulb... :)
As to how many plants... ??? I was thinking of making three PVC rows for the hydro NFT setup... and placing three plants per row... total of 9 plants... 9plants, 19"x29"... what do you think?

Thanks!

Ok, update... I would be using the 400W MH to grow the plant, then the 600W HPS for the flowering...

9plants possible? 19" x 29" ?

Thanks!

From clones you could do a SOG in an area that small. The plants need to flower fast and only finish about 18"-24" tall at most. Any bigger and you will have lumens problems as well as airflow problem. You could end up with a lollypop type grow where the bottom is bare and the top single cola is the only thing with flowers.

Interesting....

Let's see how we do this... :) The Art of the Grow :)

Hello everyone,

I'm about to start building this cabinet, and your input would be greatly appreciated... Please provide your throughts and opinions... if any.

It will be a SCRoG setup with a hydro NFT system.

Oh please give me input... I wouldn't want to find out something 'obvious' after I've built the thing.

Thanks for the input guys!

Hello people,

New update on the cabinet...

Here's the hydro NFT system... part of it. In the PVC pipes you see here, I will drill some holes (9 total) so I can put the meshpots in there. I still haven't done that because I don't have the meshpots yet... but as soon as I get my hands on them, it's Dremel time!

Please let me know what you think. The entire thing measures aprox. 28" by 18"... and if you want to know, about 4" high.

All input is greatly appreciated :)

Thanks,

Hello,

I have here two mesh-pots. The big one, is a custom made version by myself... the small one, is a manufactured mesh-pot...

Which one should I use for my setup above (post #8)?

Thanks for the help.

-turtle420

system re-cap:
hydro NFT, with a SCRoG (Screen of Green) ...
The pots will be filled with lava rocks...

I guess I can use the small one because once the plants grow large enough to be trained into the screen, they won't make so much weight on top of the pot...

??? ??? help, please...

[[ those are inches on the ruler ]]

I can't cut the wood and build the cabinet because it just started raining. and I ain't doing that shit indoors

People... please... please.... :(

those pots are fine, just keep in mind the tap root is gonna grow a few inches before it sends the sprout up.. i'm usin 4" deep pots with a diameter of 3" for my durban in the first 3 weeks of veg.. then get a gallon pot for your transplant, mine is like 20" deep and 11" inches in diameter to give u an idea

oooooh didnt see that little basket pot lol... i would say dont use it, it might present some problems when you need to transplant, i could see the roots getting all entangled and growing out of the sides and u dont wanna rip any.. idk thats just my opinion

peace

Hmmmm.... interesting....

I was thinking of trasplanting INTO the little baskets...

I mean, I wanted to do clones, and grow roots for them in a bubbler... right? Ok....

Then, I take out the clones with the roots and place them in the little baskets with the lava rocks. Remember I'm doing a hydro NFT... so the water will be flowing...

??? Ideas?

Thanks for the help Kaze :)

oh right i had forgotten your going hydro.. umm crap i have this great grow vid for hydro growers but its HUGE so i cant attach it... but the guy in the video doesnt use any pots whatsoever. I would suggest getting some rockwool, sprout them in that and when they get big enough move em' into the tub o' rocks. the dude in the video i think had four plants in one 2' by 3' tub so as far as the room systems needing to be seperated im not sure... hope this helps man gl with ur grow

http://insidesun.com has some pretty good prices on rockwool/everything else.. plus the guys cool and ships really fast, and he uses dhl so u have complete tracking on dhl-usa.com

Ok guys, I need a little help with some new questions:
1- I've got about 18 inches (45.72cm) for my plants to go vertical.
2- What would be better, a hydro NFT or a Aeroponic system?

RECAP: Hydro NFT setup, trying to do a LST SCRoG (like HarddOn). 1000W dual bulb system (600W HPS + 400W MH)

Now, taking them more slowly::::

1- I've got about 18 inches (45.72cm) for my plants to go vertical.
I'm doing a cabinet... At the very bottom, there's the reservoir with the nutrients and water. On top of that, there's a shelf where the hydro NFT PVC pipes will sit at a slope. Between the top of the PVC pipes and the bottom of the light reflector there's a total of 22 inches (55.88 centimeter).
I want to do a SCRoG setup... Soooo... I would have to put the screen about (I guess) 4 inches (10.16cm) above the top of the PVC pipes. With those dimensions and measurements, I have 18 inches (45.72cm) for my plants to go vertical. ???!!!???!!! Opinions? Suggestions? Am I asking for trouble?

2- What would be better, a hydro NFT or a Aeroponic system?
I'm asking because I'm still within time frame to change my designs... I would have to buy the high-pressure pump for the mist nozzles, but other than that, it wouldn't be too much of a hassle. What do you think? Aeroponic over NFT? NFT over Aero? Depends? Ok, what would go better with the SCRoG? Ufff... if there's no simple answer, no problem... just shoot your ideas.

Thanks for your time guys!

-turtle420

PS: I even converted the inches! So this can be an international collaboration... LoL!!! :p
