Never thought I'd get excited about lots of lumens. Didn't even know what a lumens was a few months ago!

10 43 watt
1 23 watt
1 40 watt 2 footer
1 80 watt 4 footer

Totals right at 35,000. 5770 lumens per square foot. Flowering like gang busters! No doubt will harvest at least 14 pounds...dried. ;) If it weren't for the thrips, Mg deficiency, Ph deficiency, pH problems and over fertilizing they'd really be doing great!!

Was going to buy an HPS but I'm obsessed with CFL'S!!!

That is what 573Watts, wouldnt one 600Watt HPS/MH give you the same lums.. I don't know, just asking.. I often wondered the same.. What does it cost to run all that? How many plants are you doing? What strain..? 14lbs man I wish I was your best friend.. I could experience from your knowledge and from smoking your bud..LOL

Yeah as I said I was going to buy an HPS. Was worried about the heat though. All I hear is that you have to just about air condition a small area to deal with the heat an HPS puts out.

But a 600 watt HPS would smoke all these CFL's in lumens. Probably put out around 75,000 lumes. But I'd also be on a diet of baked cannabis for a while as I don't have the means to exhaust that much heat. So heat has been the deciding factor. That and everyone grows with HID. I wanted to be different and grow the old fashioned way. Cause I'm old...fashioned.

Don't know what it costs. Like running 5 100 watt incandescents for 12 hours a day so probably no biggie.

Only have two plants but man they got some light! I've got 'em hanging all around 'em at diffferent heights. Right over all the good flower sites. Couple surrounding the top colas. Plus the 2 footer and 4 footer stuffed in there! When I open the door you can't really see the plants! HA! Have to look around all the lights.

And of course the 14 pound harvest is just me funnin' ya. Have no idea what strain. Bag seed but have torched off some growing shoots of a hermie and a male and even they gave me a good buzz. But I'm a light weight.

Unfortunately, the CFL's do not displace the light at the proper 'angle', or rather, the proper kelvin temp.

Realizing heat was an issue, you made the proper choice, to stay with CFL's. However, you should consider:

Using the big 125W CFL @ 2700K :) :) :)

That would be sweeeeeeet.

Or, add some reg. incandescents in there....they need the right red light to both flower properly and change hormones internally that affect potency.

Some strains, even bagweed thats awesome, need the red waves. Since you;re gonna grow, give those lights a try.

Say that reminds me....I never even have seen a pic of your plants.

Cough them up. :)

HD,

The CFL's I have are 2700 K. Says so right on the package. So they'll work fine. Just as well as the ones you're suggesting. Just not as powerful. But I wouldn't have bought them if I thought the spectrum was wrong.

As for pics? Just tall stretched out bagseed plants that have a bazillion bud sites all over them. Nothing special. :D But I'll take some pics next time I dig them out of their room. So many lights around them you can't take a pic of them while they're in there. Well you could but all you'd see is a bunch of lights with some green stuff behind them!

I will when I can, I will when I can, I will when I can, I will when I can

Not going to go rip them out of their room just to take pics. Will when I water.

I just bought a Agri Zone Full Spectrum CFL - 3000 lumens - 200W @5500K - Plants are loving it...cost about $30 a bulb though

You actually have a 42 watt bulb that puts out the same light that 200 watts of incandescents puts out. It's still just a 42 watt bulb though, which is ok mind you! It's just not a 200 watt CFL like you're suggesting. If it were, it'd be putting out over 10,000 lumens. I've got 10 of those 40+ watt CFL's plus 2 23 watters and a 2 footer and 4 footer. Still not enough. I bought a few 43 watters at Super Sprawl Mart...for $9 each.
