Cloning Question

Has anyone ever successfully cloned a plant by planting the clone into soil? BEFORE ROOTS SPROUT? Just the stem and leaves.

As opposed to water and bubbles??

If not, do you think it can be done?

Thanks MB....solves a lot of issues for me. I was gonna used advanced search but I now realize stoners cannot be expected to do much on their own :)
