Hello everyone... question:::

I'm using for reference this site "" http://www.simplyhydro.com/system.htm ""

What type of hydro system should I use for a closet/cabinet setup? Probably 9 plants...

As I see it, here are the systems:
1- WICK SYSTEM
2- WATER CULTURE
3- FLOOD AND DRAIN
4- DRIP SYSTEMS
5- Nutrient Film Technique
6- AEROPONIC

The flood and drain systems look very good and easy to setup.

The Nutrient Film Technique I also like, but I wouldn't want to come home to find my plants dead because the power failed... Maybe I can hook up a computer-type UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply)...

Which do you people suggest? What do you think?

Thanks in advance for all the help and advice!

Hey, thanks for the reply!

I just checked out their systems, but they're simply too big. I cannot fit them into my closet.

But I'm taking ideas from them. Thank you very much for your help!

I'm almost convinced on using a now a Nutrient Film Technique....

I'll keep everyone updated as to what I do and how it turns out.

Thanks!

I use American Hydroponics "Baby Bloomer" flood/drain or Ebb/flow also known. it only has space for two big plants or three mid-size, and needs a good 250W HPS. Keeps my cost down, runs cooler, compact, easy to clean, plants can be rearranged easily, remoived temporarily for cleaning. If I had more room I would run two of them for different strains. I yield about 7 ounces every crop. My cabinet is 3' wide x 19" deep. Not very big. but thats enough weed for three months for 6 of me!

Look hard for it online. Iv'e seen it as cheap as $93 US but most companies sell it for $150 - $175.

Thanks Stormcooker...

Some very useful information from your last post was that you said that you average 7 ounces per crop.... That's interesting...

I was thinking on getting my crop... then selling what's needed to cover the expenses of doing this in the first place... the rest of the weed that's over, I smoke for my self. :D

At least that's the plan...

SeedKing72,
Plants? Well, I was thinking of having three rows of PVC pipes, with three plants each.

The closet area is 20" x 36"

Thanks for the help! :)

Did you ever pick a system? What did you chose? I wouldn't worry too much about the power failure...if the power fails, so will your lights. As long as your pump doesn't fail with the lights on you should be all right.

Hello guys,

Here's a link to my grow thread:
http://boards.cannabis.com/showthread.php?p=467513#post467513

I picked Hydro NFT. I still haven't placed the plants there because... because I'm growing 4 mother plants... and I'll 'clone for sex' them... once I know which are females, then I'll take 12 clones and grow them in the NFT pipes...

That's the update guys ;)

Turtle - Well the wick system is what your link showed and most people I know don't call that a hydroponics system. We call it a candle with a plant.

If you are new to growing hydro you may want to grow a few in dirt and a few in DWC buckets. So you still have smoke at the end and you will see the growth difference between dirt farming and Hydroponics. If you use the same strain you can even do your own taste test and see if you can tell. Give your friends a blind taste test see if they can tell the difference.

DWC buckets are the cheapest way to get into Hydroponics growing. You still need some tools to monitor Hydroponic grows properly. You will need a good Ph pen and TDS pen as well. Good RO water is a must for a Nubie to hydro you don't want to fight your water too. Put all your energy into growing and watching the water level and Ph. Make sure you have the proper nutrients for Hydroponics too.

Hmmm... I don't know where the hyper-link mess-up came from...
Just in case, here's the first page of the thread:
http://boards.cannabis.com/showthread.php?t=34726&page=1&pp=25
It's under the Closet/Cabinet Grow forum, in a thread called "What strain would you pick?"

Anyway, I still haven't placed the plants in the system.
Yes, I'm growing the mothers right now in soil.

I've built the entire hydro NFT system... it's just beautiful craftsmanship... but alas, I don't know if I'll use it... my mind is getting messed-up right now with a 'fogger grow' idea.

Hehehehe....
