View Full Version : Hello All! And yes, some rook questions as well..

Hello all.

I'm 35 yr. old from the midwest and have suffered from chronic pain for 8 years. As a result of a car accident (thrown), 5 back surgeries, two spinal cord stimulators, and so many medications I can't recall them all, I am now about to embark on something I never even considered. BUT, after researching smoking online and talking w/ other chronic pain patients, it sounds like this may be a partial answer to my problem.

I know these are VERY rook'ish questions...should I roll them or use a pipe when starting out? Is either one easier for the beginner? I smoked a couple times back in college, but rarely benefitted from it, as I didn't fully inhale. How much (and remember, I don't know jack about amounts, etc.) do I use the first few times...a large 'pinch' between the index/thumb?

After talking w/ my docs and coming to this decision, it is obvious I won't be using many pain killers any longer...at least anytime in the very near future. I have plenty to fall back on for 'breakthrough pain', but still have a decent amount of 'extras'. What do I do with these things? I know I can give them back to the docs to basically 'dispose of' for me, but is there any other options???

Sorry for all the beginner'ish questions, but we all have to start somewhere! ;)

Take care, and thanks.

A pipe would probably be better, since all you have to do is break it up, and stick it in there. And as for how much..fill the "bowl" part up most of the way, and once you're done smoking that, see how you feel. It should be sufficient if it's good quality.

As for the pills, sell them to highschool students. ;) Or if you're feeling ethical, give them back to the doctor. Hehe.

Hope I answered your questions, good luck with the change in meds.

Hi Chad,

Unless you experienced rolling,I'd just stick your bud in a bowl (pipe or "water pipe" LOL) and start puffing. God, I'm envious, I can't find sh*t where I have. Also, do you not know anyone??? Are you getting medical cannibis? Just curious.

As for the PCs if you want to write to me and tell me what exactly you have, that'd be cool. Abbreviations are fine. I was in a car accident myself and have sciaticia (sp???) 3 herinated discs and have to sleep on the floor most of the time.

Best of luck

REM ;)

Thanks fellas.

Maybe I'm a moron, but I can't find a email link...or even private message???

I'll bore you w/ my history...was thrown out the rear hatch window rollin' about 75 on a secondary highway in the middle of bum-f***-egypt...errrr, bum-f***-Iowa. I had a couple wienie surgeries (burning out the inside of the vertebra...'I.D.E.T.'), then when that didn't work they took out one of the problematic vertebra and fused...which now I look back was probably not a wise decision, but we were so friggin' desperate @ that time we would have said 'yes' to dang near anything if there was a chance of 'a cure'. That didn't work either, and the pain has steadily gotten worse over the past few years. I ended up @ the Mayo Clinic because my first stimulator (I'm sure you've heard of them) was a pile of junk, and learned in a hurry that I had botched job after botched job by my docs up to that point. So they put a new one in that really has helped. It by no means 'covers' all the pain (the eletrical stimulus is attempting to stop/lessen the pain message before it gets to your melon), but it does take the edge off. So many a pain killer later, here I am. :-)

Anyway...REM, shoot me an email [email protected]

To the upper right of someone's post you can find their instant message information, or click on their name to find their email. This is only if they choose to display it though. I don't mind talkin to like minded people. :)

Anyway...ouch. >_< I'm sure that's an understatement, but yeesh. Haha. My dad and my older brother flipped my dad's car, rolled three times. They somehow were unharmed, besides some bruises. Lucky them.
