Could someone explain to me why people discourage smoking alone, I never really got it.

Dunno man. Smoking alone is just as cool as smoking with company. Both are good for different reasons, though to be completely honest I tend to enjoy smoking alone alot more.

~shrugs~ I think it has to do with the general conception that social smoking is the only appropriate way to use cannabis. Most people don't really look down on people who toke a joint now and again at a party when its passed their way, but they tend to look down on those who use cannabis regularly and nonsocially.


Doesn't mean smoking alone is bad. I do it all the time (bad or not) but I realize that a lot of people would think I'm a some kinda burnout if they knew I toked up every day by myself.

Doesn't really matter though, judgements are just that, judgements.. and nothing more. Just because someone thinks I'm an idiot does not make me one :)

in all truth im my area of residence its seems ppl dont smok as much and with each other any more...and in all honesty i think the "new kids" pick up somking and then just quit, like a fad. they rather follow the crowd or there"So Called Friends"

I think i'd rather smoke with my people just cuz personally i think it's more fun...we always talk about how messed up we were and how awesome it was...for some reason i always something say sooo fucking cool that just brings my boys back...then we can never remember what i said other than it was fucking sweet and it brought us back lol...On the other hand i think if i was upset over somethin (somethin bad happened in the family, girlfriend troubles) i'd like to smoke alone just cuz i can just relax and think about the world and stuff...i always sit out on my rocking bench in my backyard out by my pond and look up at the stars and stuff and just think about stuff...really relaxing and have had some great times doing it...That's my take on the subject...peace easy.

Depends who it is. I don't like to smoke with my best friend, he's always a dick and steals my munchies. :p He's fuckin hilarious drunk though...so yeah. I usually don't talk or want to do anything after I smoke other than collect and ponder my thoughts. I can/will talk but it is somewhat of a chore. With that perspective I suppose it comes across as me being rude, so I just smoke alone.

I would venture a guess that generally ( I do not hold this perception, of course) that smoking should be done socially, and that if you do it alone, you're more of a "heavy drug user" than just a typical social drug user. Sort of like the difference between drinking at a party, and drinking by yourself in your room. This is merely guessing, though. Kind of an interesting question. I, personally, enjoy smoking by myself a lot more, actually. It's nice to just chill by yourself, play video games, listen to music, take a shower, whatever.

I used to be a strictly social smoker for many years, but as the years have gone by, I have devoted less and less of my time to finding people to smoke with. I've always done both... If there is people around, I smoke with them and if I am by myself, then I smoke by myself. Why would you only smoke by yourself or only with other people? It's for anytime you wanna get high, yo.

i smoke a bowl, and it takes me into my own world.
i like to cook myself a meal, or play video games, or watch tv, but it can be awkward with friends coz im not good with conversation when im stoned. unless im really high, then i just sit there talking non stop shit. but most of the time, im better off on my own, coz i keep myself happy.

But also, if i have alot of weed, i like giving it to friends, coz i like to be the one making em happy.

Th thing is, people like tend to themselves. If they're not very comfortable with the fact that they smoke weed (like if a close friend or family members knows and disagrees) then they'll say "yeah, well I only smoke at a party or with friends..." so it looks like they only do it to be sociable. These are the kinds of people who wouldn't give a fuck if weed was legalised, or evenm exterminated from the planet.

People like us, however, don't give a fuck if people know we smoke, because we enjoy it, so we do it alone or with company. The high is the same, but it's like alot of things... actually, I can't think of anything else like it that you do with friends and sometimes do alone too. Crap.

I like to smoke alone but its only cause the only people i can smoke with are either new to smoking and therefore idiots. Bit of a fence sitter, I like nothing more than sparking up with my good lady and watching a movie or the telly. But then nothing like packing a bowl and cranking up some Led Zep, Muse, Hendrix, Chris Cornell etc and riding the magical waves alone. I find that in large groups that I dont get the same buzz, I think its the whole situation of wanting to be social with everyone and wanting to get high but not miss out on the fun( ppl getting so smashed that they do stupid things :D ), dunno sumthing like that.

Nothing is wrong with smoking alone...it's a whole lot better,too...none interferring with your your thought waves...when you are with ppl you need to be somewhat social...like say a few words every now and then just to let others know you're still there...that's why it aint cool...cuz you're forced to say stuff you normally wouldn't...and you waste brain resources just to think of sth to say when there really is no need to do so...Also if you do a statistic you'll see that those who mostly encourage smoking in groups are ppl who are usually too broke to buy their own...for all the right reasons...
