Well my dog ran away.He was an american staffy x pitbull but was only down as a staffy on his papers. We could not find him anywhere because we just moved and hadnt changed his microchip details.I rang everywhere and nobody seemed to have him.He also had on a collar with my mums phone no, my email etc.Anyways the pound got him and said he was now councils property if we wanted him back that these were the things we had to do.Firstly pay the 500 bucks to get him out, get a special license to keep a dangerous breed, display signs everywhere BEWARE OF DOG, Get a fencer to put up a strong steel high fence which had to be approved by the council costing a few grand, nobody under 18 was to touch him,he had to be muzzled when walking or around anyone, desexed there too many to list.I fucking pissed me off so bad as the council were being pricks to me i said please give me a chance i was devistated and they told me he would be put down because it was unlikely that anyone would have all those licences etc.It was so sad for me and the kids because he was a very very friendly dog and he did not even bark or growl we just had him as a pet not a guard dog (there were times i wished he would have barked) lol.I just think he wa taken by someone at the council when they seen how sweet he really was.Well i hope anyways as they pretty much told us he would be killed because of his breed.

not all pitbulls are like that..people train them to be fighting dogs because they are strong. if u get a pitbull as a puppy its not going to mean unless you make it that way..

Bull shit soldier.
I see those fucking animals, they get the same look in their eye I get when I look at them.
They are killers. And they have no place in a civil society of picket fences and guys named Richard with wives in pantsuits named Brenda.

Theres him JUST A BABY about between 3-5 mths old then.Have no tips on raising them it would depend on the kind of dog u want i guess.I raised him like a sook lol just the way i wanted him to be a big sweet woos lol.I guess some people have them to guard the property then they would have to be raised different.I know someone with one who has let NOBODY touch it from a puppy except him.I dont like that especially that he has young kids because it shows the dog that anyone who cant touch him he can attack.Other people keep them caged all day and let them out only at night to guard there place. So you can imagine what those ones are like they are scary because they are only kept to guard.

No offense there jacky o...
But I just cannot trust pit bulls, rotweilers, dobermans, dalmations (dalmatia being Croatia, not as friendly now huhn...)
And all thsoe guard breeds.
I really want to kill them when I see them, it lets a little bit of the primordial hunter out in me, I see them as a threat, I respect them, but I want to kill them.
I just cant seea dog that kids cant take food out of theirs mouths being ok in this society. Though I do see these dogs as a tool if your usiung them as guard or attack dogs, though those are not pets.

lol fair enough i believe yes they all do have an instinctive nature. This is true because my dog (blue cattle) did turn on me once when i was a kid but i deserved it.I put my horses saddle on him and tried to ride him he was not happy. He didnt bite me but he nipped me and growled that scared the shit outta me and i knew not to do it again.Animals have animal instincts but we can try and make them as mild as possible.I wont get a dog for a long time now until i know i can give it the right kind of yard etc.I will stick with my frogs and might even get a big fat snake lol

Dude, the best advice is dont bother. Sure there are sum nice red nosed pittys, but in this country the lines are so inbreed its bad news. If you must have it then.....Dont train it to guard, dont let it sleep on your bed, and dominate the dog (not beating it but using Alpha Male/female role on it) take it to training, and dont treat it like a baby/family member, its a dog not a baby. Keep it in its place. I work in Animal Control and have seen the results of pittys gone bad, but they are in the minority of dogs that go bad, but when they do......... be careful.
Depending on where you live in the country will depend on the bylaws of the council re neutering under section 33 of the Dog Control Act 1996. Dont hide the fact you own a pitty or try to register it as a differant breed, it is not worth the fines and hassle, cause if you lie in my district thats $750 for lying, $300 for unreg, then what ever else I can throw in to the mix, and if you get it back it will be neutered. If you own up I dont require the neutering. Oh yeah you will have to have muzzel on your pooch if your going out for walkies.
Any other questions give a email or drop me a line on Yahoo messenger

Yeah, because kids always want to take food out of a dogs mouth, & a dog should be killed if it doesnt let anyone take food from it.

No personal experience with Pitbulls, but they don't like other male dogs. If you keep two males together, one might end up dead.
A nationwide ban on pitbulls would be as successful as the nationwide ban on marijuana. The amatuer breeders would get together and create some new breed of fighting dog. If pitbull were to be banned everywhere, you'd just end up with a bunch unloved, abandoned pitbulls roaming the streets.

wow... so much ignorance. Pitbulls are dogs no more no less, they just have a better ability to kill if they choose so. Poodles and those little yappy fuckers are the ones that bite the most, pitbulls just make sure they bite you good instead of your ankle. Every person who has ever been attacked/growled at etc from a pit in my personal experience deserved it. I got a bad bite on my hand once while training mine in disarming people, we were getting him into the habit of attacking a persons hand if they were holding a gun, and I forgot to put the airsoft pistol away at one point and he just went after my hand like he was sposed to, and as soon as I dropped it he stopped. got 4 of em, 1 male, and 2 pure breeds, the male being one of em. One of the females was a high placing showdog before I took over taking care of her, beautiful dog she is. Shes gettin old now though :/

Here's how the ASPCA does it. They take a fake hand, and place it in a food bowl. If the dog bites it when someone takes food away, he's put to sleep.

ive got a red nosed pit, had him since he was a puppy, and i tell you what i have 2 small daughters that love the dog to bits and everytime the girls get in trouble, whos right there next to them....the pit lol, he will get right in between me and the girls, he feels that he is protecting them, as he should ive done my best to raise him right and hes a good dog, very protective, but hes not mean in anyway, and he wont be. but IF and i say IF he ever does turn mean ill be the first to put a bullet down his ear, and he knows it. if a dog, no matter what breed it is, if a dog is mean, its due to the way its been raised.

are you raising them for companionship or for security or for show?
(i assume for companionship.) i work at a dog kennel/rottweiler breeder.
l there are many types of agression:sex, territorial, fear-related, food, dog, crate, and human agressive. pitbulls tend to be dog, human, and territory aggressive. ach type of agression must be dealt with differently, agression is a very very serious issue and hard to reverse after puppyhood.
ike with most instinctively agressive dogs, pitbulls must be weaned from thier agression ASAP, immediatly after weaning is a good time to start socialization. spaying annd nuetering helps greatly as hormonal males (and females) tend to be very agressive and territorial. socialization early is the key. by this i mean to accustom the dog to positive situations with other dogs and humans. this includes plenty of human/dog contact with LOTS of reward and reinforcement. socialization should also be brought on with basic training, if not after. remmeber that dogs seek constant reward, good behavior=reward. rewards can be food, praise, pet or play. use all types of reward-this keeps the dog intersted and avoids compulsive thinking. pitbulls are very strong dogs-know his/her limits. MOST IMPORTANTLY OF ALL: establish the alpha standing immediatly. this means to establish that YOU are in control, that YOU are in control of rewards and regimen.

Its not wether its stupid or not, but kids WILL do stupid things to animals, and a dog that will react explosively and violently towards them should not exist.
I mean its an animal, why do you need a big strong one anyways? its a luxury, like an Ipod or morbid obescity, its a parasitical manifestation of the excesses of our time. So it may as well be a minature like a pug or soemthing.
Besides your a twat :p

i have only seen my dog, a female yellow lab who is extremly non-sociable towards other animals, get along with one dog, which was a pitbull, it was a very very odd experience to see that. she usually goes for the neck with other dogs, but is a huuuge kiss ass to any person.

This is so silly. Any dog will bite you if you try to take food out of his/her mouth. i have had a jack russell, dachshunds, labs, and a pit bull...you dont take food away from a dog and that's something you should teach your children. if they can't figure that out they shouldn't have a dog. Our little puppy pit bull is the sweetest puppy I've had. She's goofy and loving and plays wonderfully with kids! If you train a dog to be mean then they'll be mean. But to say that all pit bulls are mean is just wrong....and ignorant.

I suggest crate training your pit bull puppy. When we left for church one Sunday we let her to roam free about the house, and came home to find her like this...

I really wish that there was more ppl out there with your attitude to ownership, especially to pitbulls. If there was we would not need the legislation to deal with "bad dogs". Sure I would be out of a job, but it would be worth it.
I stopped an old lady (about75) walking(read being walked by the pup) a pitbull pup, she was asked if the dog was registered etc, and if she knew what she had, she said the vets told her it was a lab staffy x. Anyway it turned out that she was sharing her bed with this pup AND her toy toy companion dogs of 10 yrs. Talk about the spidey senses going overtime. Pretty much scared her in to releasing the dog to me for destruction. That was a fatal attack in the making, the pup was only 4 months old but it knew that it was boss, imagine if the old bird was in bed, and one of the other dogs got in the pitty's fav spot and it wanted it out and the old bird got in the way  ................
As for the clown who wants to breed a pitty with a larger dog, dude your the kind of fuck wits that lead to breeds getting bad names in the media and getting legislation created to deal with the issue. Dude 2 words for you GROW UP!
