Well, go to cannabisculture.com and search Marc Emery. You'll get more and better information than I can give you here. He's a major marijuana activist and has contributed a huge amount to the cause. I believe he deserves our support just because of his role, much less his current situation.
What are the laws on marijuana usage and posession in New Zealand?

US DEA teamed up with officials in Canada to have Emery charged in US, using an international treaty meant for fighting terrorism. Emery, if extradited to the US and found guilty could spend the rest of his life in a US prison, for something that he wouldn't have been charged with in Canada.

Its illegal over here, no one can use it for medical reasons... from what ive seen the police are pretty laid back when it comes to users but for growers/dealers they have little mercy allthough they do focus most of there attention on handing out speeding tickets and trying to stop our out of control meth problem.
Alot of people get away with little punishment when they are caught with pot, i was in caught onme day and a guy was caught with 16plants and said it was for personal suply and was only sentenced to 100hr comunity work.
There has been talk about law reform for years but nothing has come of it most recently they have been talking about instant fines for being caught with pot but i doubt it will happern
and just a little bit more info about pot in NZ we have the highest arrest rate and useage for cannabis in the world yet its still illegal, aparently we consume more lsd than any other country to,
I'll try to find a website with laws and stuff and put the link up for ya

Thanks skunk, interesting info.
Seattle is the first place I've lived that has such a large number of people involved with law reform. Hempfest was unbelievable! I'm looking forward to the protest friday.
Anyway, thanks for the info! Happy smokin.

we're having our own at the federal building here in las vegas. i believe i read on one of the major news sites somewhere (like cnn or similar) every major city with a fed building/complex will be getting hit with 'leave marc alone' protests. i'll be in front of the fed building in downtown vegas anyway...and what a great place for a protest too! in between chants we can skip out for one of those 99 cent shrimp cocktails and drop a coin or two into a slot...but that'll be after we stop traffic for as long as we can in the middle of downtown (not a lot of traffic there anyway). we're expecting at least 40-50 to show and hope to bring in more as people see what's going on but as far as i know nothing of his arrest has even made the papers yet! luckily one of the fm stations has been making mention of it when they can so we'll see...i'll give y'all a report tomorrow evening.

There was a Smoke Out America deal here at the Missoula Hempfest last Saturday, pretty good turnout too, they raised a good chunk of money to help with his legal bills. Donate people, show the American government that they are NOT the police of the world and they should keep their noses out of business that the Canadian government has specifically looked the other way on for years. Makes me sick...

Vegas definitely kicks more ass than seattle. But I'm close to canada so its ok. I'd love to hear how it goes. Hopefully some people will show up here.
How many people on the boards are protesting today? All over the country.
