The best possbile way under smaller spaces will be to keep lights very close (1") away with CFL lights. Of course, this also requires you to have other factors like temperature, nutrients, etc in the right ranges which requires other things... and so on.

You gotta read up a lot and know what you're doing.

there is a formula that you canpurchase that will keep your plants short, I spoke with someone the other day who swears by ths stuff. I think he said it was called "Bushmaster" He said it stops vertical growth....STOPS IT... but actually increases thickness and yield of buds..

sounds amazing.... people use it who grow in the OMEGA GARDEN

There are a few ways that I have found since I love growing smaller plant instead of big mommas, for the time being anyways :)

Use CFL's for vegging, 18/6. You can get as close as an inch using CFL's as someone said already. They give of very little heat, but you must have a fan blowing on the lights to keep them cool. They also work amazingly well for vegging. Keeping the lights close, little heat, will keep your budsites during this time short and tight.

Grow a Indica dom. strain or a 100% indica strain. Indicas grow short and thick as compared to sativas that grow tall and lanky. avoid sativas. Some examples could be Rockbud (wicked strain, 100% indica, locked to your couch for hours), Northern Lights, Blueberry, Big Blue, Lowryder, Trainwreck.

Cut down vegging time. I have flowered plants that were only about 4inches high during veg. The end result was about a 1.5ft tall plant. Cutting down veg time will obviously cut yeild, but the potency will still be there using proper nutes and soil.

There are several techniques you can use for keeping a plant short. Read through here:

There is a list, too many to go through, that you can use to get high yeilds in small spaces. I would explain myself, but I myself am learning this stuff as well :o .

That's all I can think of right now. Good luck
