View Full Version : Does your pet stay in the room while smoking?

I'm an addiction specialist so I can humbly diagnose that our pet has become addicted to marijuana smoke. At first when he was a kitten, we never noticed if he was in the room or not. Later on, when he was left outside, he would meow very loudly and scratch the door to be let in. He would just sit there usually on my lap, then he'd pass out with (I swear) a smirk... :D
He never makes a fuss if the door is closed and if nobody is smoking a J.

Gets the muchies - he even eats watermelon and grapes - then sleeps again. He twitches a lot more than usual in his sleep (some colleagues say he might be dreaming - I think THC changes the neuro-chemicals resulting in tremors) and he pees more.

One noticable thing is that he became very lazy. For about a week after he gets "high" he barely lifts himself off the ground.. And he's gaining weight - weighs about 25% more that his sister which was never subjected to smoke for control purposes. My friend's Golden Setter runs off the moment the joint is lit. Go figure.

This clearly demonstrates that your avreage household cat has a potential to become an addict just like us.

Ten years ago I had turned my wife's jump horse into an alky (she (horse) adored canned beer - later on she got so conditioned to the popping sound that her jumping career ended prematurely.) That was right before she divorced me and sued me for the cost of that animal (no cheap thing) on top of everything else.

Just thought I'd share..

Health & peace to you all.

OK, in scientific studies, animals won't self-administer THC.

John Gettman is a modern day activist. I don't know if he's dead or alive. I guess that would mean that I don't know if he's modern day. But, look him up.

But, I don't know if that's where I got it from.

My cat (I want to believe) loves herb.

Even if my dog doesn't get high, I think it's really funny to think that he does get high and to think what he's thinking if he was high.

My cat will wander aimlessly and I'm pretty sure it's because I just got her high.

I really want a pet to smoke with and stuff. :)

But my dad hates dogs and cats, my mom's really allergic to both. And by my dad hating dogs, I mean he'd kill one if he could. Yeah, bad childhood experiences. :p

I just want all of y'all to know that I've smoked around my dog ever since I've had her (11 years). She now has irreversible bronchitisis and has had surgery and is on medicine and still coughs all the time. Her vet thinks I need to put her down in a little while when she is just miserable. I'm crying now writing this. Every time she coughs I just want to hurt myself. If you love your animal don't smoke around it. It's the same as smoking cigarettes around your baby. Sorry to bring anyone down, just telling the truth.

I'll smoke around my animals, sure, but I don't get them high. Sometimes even I prefer them around when I smoke. It is a social event after all.

In IMHO, the better way to get your pet really stoned without destroying her lungs, is to bake up some peanut-butter cookies or similar non-caffienied recipe [DON'T use coffee or chocolate in the recipe - they poison dogs  ] with plenty of leaf and feed one to her, while you are getting stoned to the eyeballs yourself too. :) Share pleasure, that sort of thing. :D
The downside of that is, if the cookie is a tad strong as they usually are, being intended for MY consumption :D , that your dog may pee in her deep sleep on the living floor, as my dog Rosa did, a couple of times, some years ago. She really enjoyed them. :p
My mother's dog, Andy, doesn't really like the smoke, tho' [no, Mom doesn't know that I sometimes blow smoke on him from a bong or pipe... :D ].
I occasionally blow smoke on Rosa now, to help ease the pain from her back legs [partly old age [she's very old now at 12 years, about like a ninety-year old human], and partly an old injury in her pelvis she sustained from being hit by a car as a puppy]. It seems to help.

I know some guys who smoked 2 joints of weed dipped in PCP. While they were smoking them, the dog was in the room inhaling all the second hand smoke, and they even smoke the smoke right in the dog's face a few times. At first the dog started to bark really loudly, then it just laid on the couch looking dead for about 15 - 20 minutes. Then it finally got up and started shitting all over the place. They said it was like dhiarhea shit. So they ended up throwing it out of the room. (Mind you, it was a second story window) When it the ground, it got up and scurried off into the woods, and they didn't see it for 3 days.

Phoenix, get a pair of guinea pigs [both female... males tend to fight a bit and if you don't want to breed 'em, you don't need males.!]. They're cheap to feed, being obligate herbivores, so you only need to feed them fresh vegetables, e.g, lettuce, carrots, celery, etc, and of course, plenty of grass [lawn, not pot variety... ]. They also make great lap-warmers.
Make up a suitable cage [look up websites on cavies [another name for guinea-pigs] for info] and put them out each day on the lawn with a bowl of water.
I used to have guinea-pigs some years ago, and now I wish I had done some experimenting on them, to see if how stoned they could get. My sister has some guinea-pigs, but she won't let me do so. :(
One day, I may get myself a pair, now that we have a lawn in the backyard. :D
Why a pair? They're social animals, and I found some years ago that one cavy tends to go quite nuts from sheer loneliness.
Be gentle with them, look after them as well as possible, and have fun. Just be aware that the guinea-pigs live for around twelve years, properly looked after.

My cat seems to love it. I didn't smoke with her when she was a kitten so now when I smoke with her she gets really high. She purrs a lot and then eats and then goes straight to sleep for hours.

Heres a pic of her about 20 minutes ago, still asleep and twitchy from our morning wake and bake.....

I used to have a guinea pig when I was in high school that would squeak nonstop. (Didn't realize he was lonely....) Whenever I got him high was the only time that he would stop making so much noise and promptly go to sleep (didn't matter what time of the day it was.) He eventually got to the point where he would squeak really loud whenever I came home from school just so I would take him out of the cage while I smoked. If I ignored him he would run around and squeak like he had lost him mind. Guess he liked the feeling..... I miss my Alphy...... :( RIP.

Good pets, but make sure to get them a friend...

he died cause you smoked to much with himActually he died after complications from an ear infection. Our vet gave him antibotics but even after his ear cleared up he was still sickly. This was after I quit smoking with him, by the way (because I got an after school job and never had time to smoke with him, I always smoked in my car...) So, no, I don't think he died because I smoked too much with him.

I dont know if animals experience a high as we do, but I have realized that at night I'll go out to my car to burn a couple of bowls. I'll sit down in my car and light the bowl and as soon as I blow out the smoke, I hear my cat Boogie running my way. Before I stopped smoking in my house I would lean out my bedroom window and blow the smoke out that way...and just like clock work Boogie would stroll up to my window and meow non-stop. I think everytime he smells the smoke he knows that I'm near and just follows the smell to find me.

Hmm it's hard to say if animals like getting stoned or not. It might also be considered animal abuse so don't get caught smoking with your pet.

My cat started scratching my leg (near my pocket with an 1/8th of dro) like a scratching post before. She definitely got addicted to bud everytime I pulled out the bowl she would nuzzle herself against my legs wanting bud..I would hold her down and put my lips over her nose and blow it in..she used to get so baked.

I wonder how she's doing in rehab? lol no j/k..i left her in Arizona with my uncle

Yes, but what about guinea pigs? What happens with them?

I ask, as a few weeks ago I saw a fascinating documentary "Hot Docs: Grass" on SBS on marijuana, mostly about the history of our favourite stuff... there was an awesome scene of laboratory rats absolutely baked on near-lethal dose of resin? THC?... BIGGEST smiles I ever saw on those rats, and they moved sooo sssllllooowwwwlllyyy in their perspex cages.

Now, if I wanna die, I'd rather prefer it to be by merijuana overdose than by anything else... :D :p

we get my friends weinerdog high and it is HILARIOUS. she will eat anything so sometimes we give her a small bud of not so good stuff and she will lick the shake from where we have been breaking up the weed (very usefull). we also give her a shotgun once in awhile. she is pretty funny cuz she always tries to bite my shoes when she is high and she will just roll around on the floor for like ten minutes

I have some friend that own 2 bitbulls and they're trained perfectly, except when it comes to morning conduct. These dogs will sit in front of who ever is packing and wait for you to set a step or a bunch of seeds down and they'll eat em and if they see someone smoking theyll sit in front of you cuz they wanna shotgun. The dogs would get nice and stoned and pass out, then eventually we would follow. Since we were only visiting we would sleep on the couch, it was one of thos L shaped couches. Well by the time morning came, the dogs were so well rested they decided they wanted to play and jumped ontop of the people sleeping on the couch and run back and forth and back just trampling over everyone. It was so funny..

im sorrie to say this, but i know all kinds of pets that get smoked around all the time, a mix of 2 cats and 2 dogs, and neather one of them seam to have any problems.

also im sorrie to hear about your dog, atleast u know your dog will be pain free when u put him down, my mom was a ass hole and just took my dog into sum town and opeand the door and threw out sum dog food and he went and got it and my mom drove off, and then another one of my dogs was at my dads house after my mom took it to the pound and lied to me about it, and my dad told me, and i was so pissed off until he talked his GF into letting him bring her to his house because i was torn apart becuz of lies and the best dog got taken away from me, so my dad did that and he told me that he could bring her to his house, and would bring her to work with him everyday and i would get to see her, then she had to get put down due to a torn ligiment in her back legs, and we put her down at the vets office, and then the last dog that had to go was a decent dog, and my mom put him down for only god knows why i had to take him out in the woods and shoot him well atualy listen to my uncle shhot him, and the fuck facse dosent know how to kill a god damn animal, it took him like 3 shoots to kill a damn dog at close range, and now my mom threatens to get rid of my dog, and now i tell her that if she dose i will literaly blow her van up. and showed he my tennis and chery bombs, and a movible cocktail and she sut up.

and anyways, its never fun to have a dog put down, and now all i can think about is what i will have to do when im living on my own and my dad cant shoot a rifel and i dont talk to my uncle and dont hav the monnie to have him put down at the vets office.

My cats ( I have three of them) will be completely quiet and zonked out in the other rooom and when they smell the smoke, all three are clawing at the bedroom door. Then when they come in, they not only get a contact high, they thoroughly enjoy it, going from person to person to be petted and stroked...

I don't let my dog get stoned. When smoking at home I'm usualy outside the house smoking. If he is in the same room (and that only is when their are other people there, he likes to be with a group) he don't get effected by it cuz he don't get what I see as enough from the smoke thats fills the air. I warned my friends that if they want to get an animal stoned, go home and do it to their own pets, but to leave muine alone. If I found out someone got my dog stoned or drunk, they wouldn't be back at my house no more. I feel that my dog shouldn't get stoned because I want to keep anything from harming him. He tends to be...hyper...and because of that he almost got himself killed a few times in the house, I'm not going to take a chance.

The next night i did it again but the dog started barking in my parents room so i put it out opened my window, sprayed some axe and faked sleep just in case.

i hope you all understand that blowing hits in your pets face isnt going to get them baked or high, especially when its only 1 or 2 hits. could it be possible that your pets want attention and are not actually after your bud?

unless the animals put there face up a a peice and toke, dont make them. its called animal abuse and anyone who forces there pet to do something as dumb as inhaling second hand smoke with little to no THC content in the first place should be shot.

abuse your pets how ever you want it doesnt make any difference to me, but just think about if they were the dominant species would you like it if some loser held you down and blew useless smoke in your face?......yeah thats what i thought
