Hurricane Katrina left behind thousands of abandoned and displaced pets. Agencies from all over the world are helping the human victims of Katrina, but who is helping the animals? Please donate to the Humane Society:

If it were your town that was destroyed, you'd appreciate that your dog, cat, ferret, iguana, parrot, whatever pet you have, were feed and provided shelter, wouldn't you? :(

Yes, I would expect people to care for my pets. I find it sad that a country that spends billions of dollars of weapons each year, on Iraq, and on this bullshit drug war, but can't spend a bit more to feed these animals. Just because on animal can't change the world like some people can, they still mean a lot of their owners who raised them, took care of them, and loved them, doesn't mean they should be left behind to drown in the undercurrent of shit. Damn US government! :D

That was so sad, on TV, when the rescue boat had to ignore the dog swimming through the water. A full grown pet. It probably made it's way to the Gulf Of Mexico and swam around. Pisses me off.

Hey, I saw the same one.

I also saw where they were rescueing a family, and they forced a little 12 year old boy to leave his pet behind to drown. Could you imagine having to make your son leave his pet behind? I'd be heartbroken. Stop being so damn cheap and spend $20 to feed the poor dog.

About ten years ago, I saw on the local news about the depletion of the ozone layer creating weird precipitation patterns in the atmosphere (or moisture patterns). I guess until we figure out the ozone layer, it looks like everything will get worse.

come on man, get real. The government has more important things to spend it's money on; like killing innocent people...

Well ya, you'd choose your own kid over your pet obviously, but I'm trying to say that Bush spends billions of dollars in Iraq killing innocent people. Billion of dollars on a fake drug war that is doing no good at all but getting worse every year. I'm saying they have all of this money, but they can't spend a what, $15,000 on some pet food, but they spend billons of dollars on bombs to kill people? It seems all a little too confusing to me. "Hmmm...continue to kill people so I can save my oil, or spend money on saving lifes? Hmmm...I think I'll keep killing people so I can keep getting my greedy paws on money"

That's all I was saying, no offense to anyone :)

Yeah, it's called global warming. Warmer waters mean stronger hurricanes. It's a shame bush doesn't believe in global warming.

I'm all for animal rights, and it breaks my heart to see and hear what's going on down there, but the fact remains, human lives are more important than animal lives. Humans have top priority.

Obviously we all care about the loss of human lives, but animals are part of most of our lives and they are considered family.
I read one article where they wouldn't let any pets on the buses that were taking people out of town. They made this little boy leave his dog behind and he cried so much he vomitted. Just thinking about that makes me cry.
If I was in a situation (as an adult) like that, I know I couldn't leave my dog - I'd probably just find another way.

Except for the being for animal rights part, I completely agree...some of y'all probably already know that though from the thread I started about people over animals.

No crap. But no one knows if the ozone layer is just going through a cycle and if it will thicken on it's own.

Actually, there are several groups and organizations that are gong around New Orleans in boats collecting the abandoned animals. The biggest problem for them is getting the funds to buy food and pay for medical supplies. Visit www.hsus.org for related stories and a link where you can DONATE!

I too disagree with this statement. I don't want to bother starting an arguement about it, but from the footage I've seen from N.O.'s, animals in this case are more important than some of them. Some people down there need to be stopeed because an animal would never shoot, rape, or rob their neighbors and fellow species. Some of those people don't deserve life for what they did.

Well then, what's your stance on this issue. Do you believe animals have equal rights as humans? More rights?

Some of you make it sound like "they" are bad. The "they" that made the little boy vomit, it's not like they did it to make him vomit. There's a legitimate reason for why no animals were alloud on the buses. I, myself, couldn't tell you what that legitimate reason is.

think about it
all my cats life ive fed him and loved him and taken care of him
dont think it would not be a last resort
but if push comes to shov im a realistic type
i would feed the kids.
how could anyone not do so .
no its not nice but letting a kid starve(and the cat would die uselessly) makes no sense
dont mistake me for someone who dont care
i do,
but fact is,my kids come b4 anything

still want to save em
what you waiting on
get ya ass in gear get down there and put up or shut up

people or animals, and u choose animals
now who is the reall cold hearted ones?
your fooling yourself.
if i came down to no food for days and days i know for a fact you would eat your dog raw pal.unless ya have no will to live and if thats the case
fuck ya go die then, leave the living to those with the will to do.

i would fry you up for my kids if that is all they was and no hope of nothing
and im just thinking worst case scenerio
but being honest,i could not let my kids starve to death.
id kill you or anyone or anything to stop that if i had too

and yes im serious,
i wished they was a way to save them all, they aint.
if u can help them do so but dam yaw help humans first or your faking it.
save the animals,ONLY after th people have food water and a ride out of there, yaw think its humane to put animals above hungry injured people,
your freakin nuts if thats so
