I've been doing some thinking.

We've all heard reports of raping and murder from various news sources...but when i did a google search on the matter i havnt seen any confirmed reports.

its really making me think...just what is the real story behind whats going on? i realised that i almost fell into the same trap im always fighting against.

The MSM tells us something and we believe it without researching for ourselves.

I'm not saying that there havnt been any rapes or murders...i wouldnt be surprised if reports are later confirmed...but i shouldve been smart enough to actually get confirmation first.

here's a link from the uk guardian...

another thing ive been pondering is this race issue...normally i would be highly critical until i had actual proof to base a real opinion on...but i was willing to eat up anything the media told me pertaining to the horror of the superdome..was it easier to believe just because we were talking about poor black people...or was it because we were gung-ho on pointing out what a fuck bush is?

its something i gotta think about...but i do know that whatever the outcome...it isnt good for the american people as a society and as a culture.

another thing...if this is true...how come cnn or ANY other news stations dont have any visual proof of some guys running around blasting people?

werent they reporting from the day after the storm? i saw piles of photos of bloated corpses and youngsters stealing jeans and ipods...but no armed gangs of junkies patrolling the streets...

again, im not making a definitive conclusion...im just pondering.

I think it's probably pretty obvious that some rather unsavory things happened as a result of idiotic and indefensible behavior by a remote few.

The problem is that some, mostly those who back W, made it out to be widespread, so much so that it hampered relief efforts.

They were able to do so because of the latent racism this country still "enjoys." One couldn't make those assertions about robberies, rapes and murders if those were white folks huddled around the Superdome and Convention Center. It's simply not the white stereotype.

As much as the White House decries the so-called blame game going on, his administration and his supporters have been doing more than their fair share.

But what separates us from them is that our accusations are based on abundant fact rather than racially-bound sterotypes, sensitivites and fears.

I don't know bout all that. I saw whites, blacks, and hispanic looking individuals looting on TV. The bangers that got shot, I guess, are "assumed" to be black? I didn't assume it! Just some assholes with guns! Rapes in the Dome? As many blacks as I saw around that building I don't think whitey was doing any rapes in there!
Also, different "celebs" were talking as to the horrors they heard about in the dome...it just wasn't all a political leak. But I don't know for sure, wasn't there!! Just feel sorry for the poor bastards that had to go through it!!

Rapes and murders have been taking place. Bullet ridden bodies have been found and shots were fired at rescue crews. Looting has been rather widespread. To sum it up the Big Easy enjoyed a few days of true lawlessness and disorder.

Just FYI I'd recommend staying away from that socialist rag known as the Guardian. Thy are even more bias to the left then Fox is to the right.

Blacks/NAACP/Democrats dont want information out that might "make them look bad"

And as for not being able to find any articles about rapes and roaming armed gangs...Fox news and MSNBC has a few articles on it...The liberal media has it hidden on their pages..you gota do some looking for it

Sure psycho, Bush didn't create the hurricane. But he knew it was coming for days in advance, as we all did. Why did he wait until DAYS had passed before beginning the evacuation?

I think race is not the primary issue. The most important thing here is poverty. Who cares about people who don't pay a lot of taxes, who make cities look 'ugly'? Not Bush... The big misfortune is that a vast majority of poor people are also black, which makes it easy to say that Bush doen't like black people. The reality is, and has always been, the powerful don't like the poor and the weak, unless they're looking to recruit some soldiers....

Bush asked the governor to evacuate two days in advance. She didn't give the order. The Mayor and transportation director was in charge of the huricaine evacuation plan. They delayed action. Look at all the pretty buses under water...should give ya a clue!!!

I think racism is one of the underlying causes of poverty, so to me, yes, racism is a big issue, when blacks and other minorities cant into college, cant get jobs, and get singled out by police. Of course Bush doesnt like black people. Have people forgotten Trent Lott's comments? And of course congress is mostly white. That doesnt help either. You cant just point out poverty and not explain why so many blacks are poor.
