When it comes to relationships, am I the only guy my age (18) who, when looking for or thinking about a potential girlfriend, is actually looking for a girlfriend?

I dunno about you But when I was 18 the last thing I was looking for was commitment.;)

i think most of us young single guys are looking for a girlfriend... my problem is my standards for a girlfriend. they're high enough that almost every girl i meet is just a potential one nighter. looks, intellingence, and personality are a bitch to find.

LOL... I don't necessarily mean commitment. I'll explain....

I've seen some of my friends going out with chicks who they hardly get along with. Sometimes they have a good sex life, sometimes they don't, but they're only with them for the sex, or because the girl in question is hot. Usually they split up after x amounts of weeks, and they do the same thing again.

I fucking hate that. I've done it once or twice, and i'll never do it again. Sure, i've had a few one night stands but now i'd only even think about going out with a girl if I got on with her really well, whether she's hot or not. There's no point in having a girlfriend if you guys can't even be.. well... friends.

sorry bro i misread you a little bit there... ya going out with girls you dont really like just for sex is pretty pointless.... you can get it done just as easy without the dates. as far as having a friend thats a girl, i, and the great majority of teenage guys, like hanging out with guys more. theres a few exceptions, but thats pretty much the rule for me. the exceptions are what youre calling girlfriend material and i totally agree.

Having a friend and a girlfriend or boyfriend all rolled into one is the greatest experience you could have. Not nesserially someone who agrees with you all the time but someone who will listen, and not judge right?

But you have to be careful when getting into those types of relationships because usually they just turn out to be ...Well friends and nothing else is strong. I hate when that happens. Don't worry.I'll be your friend and you don't even have to date me.And yes I'm a girl...woohoo.lol.

Awww ghost, i dont really have any advice for you....ima chick and i've only went out with a few chicks before so im not a pro or anything...er just find a girl whom will be good to you, who cant be serious all the time, patient, stoner, i dunno whatever you find attractive in a girl.

>_> I feel weird posting this for sum reason,,,all in all relationships suck.

In most cases in males, the very first attraction is the visual attraction. I think that it's instinctive. Step 2 is to develop an personal and emotional connection. Sex and committment SHOULD come well after step 2 is cultivated.

When a sexual relationship is developed too quickly, it complicates step 2. So if you want to have a girl FRIEND, do not rush to have sexual activity. Easier said, than done.

Yeah im with ya Ghost....I have to like a lot of things about a girl before I go out with them...not just their sexuality.
