My dads an officer in the national guard and he got called in yesterday. Hes one of the 1300 there. Sad thing is He and his Partner had to shoot 2 kids in their 20's just today. You might see this on the news actually. They got shoot to kill order. He said 2 guys were walking into a gun shop with guns in theire hand. My dad fired a warning shot telling them to get down and put their gun down. ONe of the guys ran and the other pointed the gun at him so he had to shoot him. While his partner checked the shot man my dad ran after the 2nd man. That guy turned around and shot at him while running towards another man and his son. Dad couldnt risk him runnin toward him so he shot him dead in the chest.
Pretty fucking sad wat thes assholes are doing. Its a disaster and ppl should help one another and not shoot a soldiers there to protect them.

Wow. I applaud your father for being there in the first place. And respect his ability to do what needed to be done. He must be living a million feelings right now, having to kill some of his own countrymen when its not even a declared war. I know he had a duty to do , but so did those coward cops handing in their badges and fleeing.
He took his duty seriously and because of his bravery and balls there are two less dangers running the streets. Imagine those guys had stolen more guns from that store. They could have outfitted a little army and continued on a rampage.
I dont know what those two guys were planning to do in that store, I can only speculate. But it looks like your father and his partner put a quick end to a potentially horrible situation. Im a Canadian but hell man Im proud of that shit.
He's going to have some shit to deal with inside when he is able to turn his focus on delaing with it.
How do you feel about it?

I'd like to be able to have guns if i live there (i'd rob a few, and some bullets lol) but not to kill people.. just 'cause i love guns haha.
Yeah, they did the right thing, and your father has a good shot (depending on distance) to be able to shoot a guy dead in the chest that was returning fire in that situation.

Yet the cops are turning in their badges and running like pussies.
You may simply say its 'his job' but its not as easy as that to kill one of your own. Any man who sticks his neck on the line to save other lives is a fucking hero to those he saved. It doesnt matter that he has trained for it, or ordered to do it. He saved lives with his actions. That is a hero in my book.

I'm not too keen on applauding death regardless of the situation. These are the types of victories soldiers used to keep quiet as a sign of human respect before murder given popular justification was "moral". They obviously must get control of the city back and have to use force if necessary. This I understand. I just don't think we should be so excited and happy about it.
brrg744
09-04-2005, 05:36 PM
no ones happy about it they are just saying it had to be done or it would have been worse. People that loot and shoot at hospitals and soldiers in this situation arent acting like humans and they deserve to be dead. I would shoot him withought a second thought

I don't think peeople understand that it is marshal law,a basic war zone. You should feel notrhing but pride for what your father had to do to help restore order in a very dangerous place unlike any other part of the world right now IMO.This disater will change the way we as Americans look at our pampered lives. It's sad when a few idiotts exploit a horrible act of nature instead of coming together as they should.I would stil like to think in mt idealistic mind that this is a small percentage just over blown by the media's need for drama.Good Luck to your father & thank your dad for all those people who can't.Peace

What i think is where seeing a move by our government to make us accept martial law as an everyday thing. Its not right that people are still dying there. I doubt the story that this person told as well, I dont doubt that they are killing there own people. Hell they did nothing for 5 days while people where sick and dying, how do we know they were shooting at rescue workers are government been lying to us since 1913 to get all kinds of thing to happen. Walmart and all stores should have open to the public for free merchandise, people stayed behind because they were told they would lose their jobs, What percentage had no jobs/were on gov't entitlement, medical supplies could have been dropped, planks of water, food, medicine could of been drop at the superdome or the convention center. No news shows mentioned...that bodies are all over the place many being eaten by alligators, And what else is going on elsewhere, in this country and govt. That is keeping us citizens distracted.

Your dad is a good man and you should let him know he is doing a good job on stopping these maniacs. It must be hard knowing that you took a human life, but he could have saved 10 more lives while killing off only that 1, who deserved what he got anyways. Shooting at a soldier trying to help you, what were they thinking?
Personally, I have very little remorse for what's happening down there. During this time of need, you should be helping your fellow person, not beating, robbing, raping or killing them. Taking food for suvival I can understand, but guns, TV's, and electronics? Your crack dealer is dead okay, that DVD player is fuckin useless.
Your crack dealer is dead okay, that DVD player is fuckin useless.
lol
how true...it does seem extremly ponitless to be taking things that you arnt actually going to be using in a long time....but i suppose they think that they are getting out of there soon.....but even then i dont think the rescuers are going to let them bring a tv with them when they are being saved...
they should just be thankful they are alive and help others who need it...fuck if you have enbough energy to break into a shop and steal shit you should be using your energy to help people who need help....
but good on your dad cause like nochowder said he could of hurt alot of innocent people.

Personally, New Orleans has been noted for being murder capital of the nation(world) before. Also,it's police force has been known to be crooked albiet, it has long since been cleaned up.I feel for your pops cause now he has too deal with the psychological aspects of killing someone.Obviusly he did the right thing it our context, those kids were in a dumded down reality thinking that they could get away with being lawless and gangsta gangsta, matter of fact that isn't even being true gangsta cause it was borderline retarted and definitely stupid.Tell your pop's he has got alot of moral support from this message board if you think it would make a positive difference.

I??m not feeling right about this?
Look brrg744?. I??m sorry but I??m having trouble believing you and I??ll tell you why.
First of all, the military doesn??t give ??shoot to kill orders? it doesn??t really work that way. What I mean is they are trained to ALWAYS shoot to kill.
They also don??t fire warning shots?..it??s just not done?.especially in urban areas.
If there had been a National Guard/ Civilian involved shooting?..the media would have been ALL OVER that story.
This happened about three days ago according to your post?.and I can not find one tiny single thing about ANY soldier firing upon their own countrymen (justified or otherwise.)
I have heard many reports of civilians shooting at soldiers but never the other way around.
Please post something to prove me wrong??I??m not trying to be an asshole?..
I just want a reason to believe you.

A front-page story in Army Times Sept. 2, "Troops begin combat operations in New Orleans," states:
Combat operations are underway on the streets ??to take this city back? in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
??This place is going to look like Little Somalia,? Brig. Gen. Gary Jones, commander of the Louisiana National Guard??s Joint Task Force told Army Times Friday as hundreds of armed troops under his charge prepared to launch a massive citywide security mission from a staging area outside the Louisiana Superdome. ??We??re going to go out and take this city back. This will be a combat operation to get this city under control.?

Well if you click the link to actually read that article. It says absolutely NOTHING about soldiers firing on civilians.
And if that general really said ??This place is going to look like Little Somalia,? than he is a fucking idiot because many U.S. service men were slaughtered in Somalia.
What the article did say however was this:
??I never thought that at a National Guardsman I would be shot at by other Americans,? said Spc. Philip Baccus of the 527th Engineer Battalion. ??And I never thought I??d have to carry a rifle when on a hurricane relief mission. This is a disgrace.?
And also this:
??This is making a lot of us think about not reenlisting.? Ferguson said. ??You have to think about whether it is worth risking your neck for someone who will turn around and shoot at you. We didn??t come here to fight a war. We came here to help.?
Not trying to start a shit fight here?..just requesting proof.

Well here's another one. I don't think that their able to clean out areas without a little bit of fire. I'm sure a lot more in detail will be coming out in the future. Just glad I'm not part of it!!!
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-troops3sep03,1,3550798.story?coll=la-headlines-nation
The troops, members of an elite Special Response Team from the Louisiana Army National Guard, were the first convoy out of what was rapidly becoming a massive military staging ground.
Their mission, simply, is to turn New Orleans into a police state ?? to "regain the city," 1st Sgt. John Jewell said.
The truck lurched through the streets, past buildings burning unabated and MPs in gun turrets. When they stopped to gear up for their arrival at the New Orleans Convention Center, where more than 15,000 people had been living in squalor since Katrina, these words echoed ?? for the first time, one would imagine ?? through the intersection of Poydras Avenue and Carondelet Street: "Lock and load!"
"Sixteen in the clip!" one Guardsman shouted, a common refrain used to indicate that rifles are fully loaded.
likemclever
09-07-2005, 05:28 AM
I am also glad that I am not a part of it?..
But again your source says nothing about firing upon civilians by the military.
And don??t even get me started on the L.A. times?.
Don??t you think if they had wanted to be prepared for a gun fight they would have loaded their weapons way before they actually might have needed them?
Do you know how intimidating it sounds to hear the words ??lock and load,? ??sixteen in the clip??..they were trying to use intimidation so they would not have to use bullets.
Evidently it worked?..(for now)
I??m not trying to win an argument here?.
But saying that U.S. service personal are shooting or have shot civilians is serious.
And I don??t think I??m out of line asking for some facts.
God bless this kids dad?.if this really happened?.but I don??t think it did?.and misleading people about this sort of thing at a time like now is wrong.

And I could personally care less if all the dirt bags of the world dropped dead right now.
The image of an American soldier shooting an American citizen in the streets of an American city.
It disturbs me a great deal.

If a guy is running to the back in a gun shop what you think he's doing? Grabbing a candy bar? Shit that enough for any law enforcement in that situation to shoot someone. Many shootings resulted from someone digging in their pocket and the cop reacted and shot them.

Did you even read those links?
There is enough misery in the world without people inventing it.
All I'm asking you to show me is.... proof that an American soldier shot a U.S. citizen during the aftermath of hurricane Katrina.

And when I do hear it?..I have to listen to politicians bicker and bitch about who did what wrong.
It was a hurricane for fucks sake.
Then I have to hear reported all over the news how women had been raped in the superdome. And children had been murdered??I heard this from so called reputable news organizations here in the U.S. and abroad??this really fucked me up emotionally.
Google it you will see what I mean.
Now I find out that those stories aren??t true??
Then I come here??.and I have to hear deliberate lies about our military?and insensitive remarks about people who are trying to save lives.
And on top of that I??m the only one who seems to fucking care (I know that??s not true but that??s how I feel)
Why would our own media make this terrible tragedy even more horrific that it actually is?one word?..politics.
And I??ve had my fill.
* Do you mind if I just hold on to this joint for a while *

Can you get me a link to that story on a news site or something?
First off I watch the news on TV, you could try British TV web sites, it would be one of three 'BBC', 'ITV' or 'CHANNEL 4', I don't remember the channel and I tried searching myself (not for long though) because I like proving that what I say is true.

Maybe they passed them up because when they opened their mouths to call for help the rescuers realized they were English and didn??t think they were worth fucking saving.
I'm Irish you can bad mouth the English to me all you want, HONEY!
By the way everyone, I posted because I knew it would get up some people's backs up, I say 'A Job Well Done', a pat on the back for 'GoGo Ball', some people on forums fall into the trap all the time, it took a while for the first reply this thread was near on page 2 but thanks to you all for indulging my sadistic personality.
For the record, no one Race or Nationality is more corrupt than the other, Humans are fundamentally corrupt but I do happen to believe that because of our nature there will always be tension between the races and this draws me to the conclusion that Black and White can't truly live in harmony.
By the way did American television report about all the foreigners getting spat upon and objects threw at them because they got the first coaches that arrived. America will not get to see what the rest of the free world can, your media is controlled and regulated by government, you elected George Bush and the billions that are unaccounted for threw the contracts awarded to companies to rebuilt Iraq, these companies happen to be owned by senators. America lives in a bubble and some day it will burst, most Americans have not set foot out of their cosy country.

Well at least I feel better now?.before I thought maybe you were an intelligent person who was just miss guided.
I can see now you??re just a sick fucking loon?..who has about as much credibility as Michael Moore. It??s abundantly clear you have no real knowledge of America or its way of life.
I??m not wasting any more time on you......shooo fly.

No superpower will remain a superpower forever. It's inevitable that other nations will rise up and others will fall. What's important is what they do with their time in the spotlight. Unfortunately not many nations have used thir opportunity to do good yet. :(

color doesnt make a person who they are, when cut we all bleed the same color. I agree that the US is whacked, but where in the world isnt it? Throughout human history, human beings have visited atrocities upon other human beings in increasingly diturbing and grizzly manners. Human nature being what it is, does'nt look like its gonna change anytime soon.

It??s funny you mention that Gost.
I have had that exact thought many many times. Well just the first part anyway.
Believe me I have often thought about Greece, Egypt, Rome and England and seen Americas logical outcome?.I won??t dispute that, sad as it may be.
And as the super power I believe that we have a certain obligation to the world to promote freedom, goodwill, and security. Unfortunately, it??s hard to deliver those things and not take sides?.which always pisses people off.
But I think your wrong about the last part. I think all former super powers have contributed greatly to the world?.where would we be in the world without Greece??s day in the sun (I can??t even imagine.)

Yeah they've contributed. But whenever a nation becomes a superpower they always put most of their effort and resources in to building military strength. In my opinion that's doing more harm than good.

I'm afraid power and security go hand in hand...
and our military does a tremendous amount of humanitarian work around the world.....believe it or not they would rather hand out a meal than put a bullet in someones chest.

the national guard should have been in the shelters protecting people
some sick bastard cut a 7 yr olds throat.
armed gangs ran the deep parts on the centers while people were dragged off raped, robbed and murdered,
anyone taking advantage of that situations needs a bullet in the head
and fuck anyone who dont think so,.so do you.
they aint all innocent survivors of a disaster, some are deadly predators and apparently they alot of them.
the NG should in fact lock that place down best they can and get them out of there soon as possible
but first things first, food water and meds ,clean clothes
just think,no food no water and gangs of parasites attacking you
i would want the NG shooting them fuckers who ran in packs PILLAGING like vikings.

But the national guard confiscating everyone's gun? Descrating the 2nd amendment?
If a person branished a gun let alone fire at them, confiscate, that constitutes a threat.
The national guard should be firing at looters, rapists, and criminals that constitute a violent threat. That is Lousiana. Those bandits should know well enough not to fuck with people because every father, mother and child there has a gun in LA before Katrina, why should that culture change?
As for this blame, everyone involved was to blame:
* The police, bus drivers and other essential employees that abandoned their duties.
*Naglin and his subordinates for failing to adequately place and practice a contigency plan. Failure to place aside adequate resources, and failure to designate enough essential employees.
*The state of Lousiana who wrestled control with FEMA for the evacuation, rescue, and recovery efforts
*Federal Government. Who given a leadership to an inexperienced guy soly on the base of politics, who exagurated his experience on his resume. Failure to coordinate efforts to get help on time.
When some Canadians beat them there, that tells you how this is all a simultenous collapse of government and to some extent humanity. How everyday, the goal of man is to replace other men with machines, for sole profit. How increasing, people are being looked at as commodities rather than as humans and how even we look at us and ourselves.
We live to suffer, but I think everyone needs to show some compassion, and to stop blaming others for things we can't control, and rather genuinely work to make sure it doesn't happen again.
Of course, we are only human.

Just something to say to you foreigners. The North and the South (of the U.S.A.) were at odds, only 5 or 6 generations ago. America is such a diverse place that you can't judge people from Connecticut by the way people from New Jersey act. Let alone Louisiana. I've lived in N.Y. and it seems they are five years behind in Virginia. At least. I think the Louisianians may not be too evolved. Not all, of course.

News Up-Date (Source: BBC, Ceefax Page 145) -
America have turned down 15 tonnes of German aid destined for the Katrina victims because the plane had no permission to land. What a load of Bureaucracy?
I'm sorry to get down on you guys, I don't really mean it, I know that America would be the first to help Ireland out in times of crisis. It is scary because that storm would destroy my small country, Ireland would be left with no economy and another few centuries of migration, we are so vulnerable here, the same goes for Britain.
