No, I think hugs are more connected to our need to be comforted, just like animals show their affection by licking other animals, or humans. And babies need to be touched early on to grow up healthy. I dont think its sexual

But i'm pretty sure that, like Mojapva said, they originated from the need to be comforted or to feel safe, the same way that baby monkeys cling to their mothers bellies.

I think that in Western culture people become uncomfortable being touched or hugged by acquaintences or friends, especially if they're being touched by members of the same sex. So because of that, I can see why being hugged would be considered sexual in western countries, since contact is considered most normal between lovers. Being Indian and having traveled to the middle East, people are so much more "touchy" in these cultures. They'll immediately put an arm around you, kiss you, and they're just more affectionate all around, even if you're a stranger. It took me a while to get used to it, and because I really dont consider myself being in touch with my culture as much as other South Asians, I'm still not that comfortable with these practices.

I'm fucked up right now and cant tell if this post made sense or not!!!!! Some feedback would be appreciated because I dont want to make an asshole out of myself!!

It depends on who that hug comes from. If it comes from a hot redhead, then many thoughts and visual images can and will run through my mind. If it comes from a family member, then it's just a need for comfort.

ok... this is what i am now thinking is that a hug from just a friend then its not sexual but lets say u are a guy huging a girl and u grab her ass and was squezing her ass or if u are a girl hugging a guy and you reach over and grab his balls or dick. then its sexual.... but i give one girl both types of hugs... sexual or non sexual.
