how the fu*k do i get rid of spyware

ok heres the situation:

i have ad-aware

mozilla firefox(dunno if i need to do somethin i just instaleld it i dunno if it works by himself)

and i alrdy set in my internet setting to block any intempestive pop ups




i still have fuckin pop-ups its pretty annoying anybody know a simple way to get rid of them ad-aware doesnt fuckin work.

Sorry, but LOL. You just installed firefox and you don't know what it is for? Your supposed to use that (mozilla-firefox) to browse the internet instead of Microsoft's piece of crap browser Internet Exploder. Usually the best thing to do once a system becomes infected with spyware is to just reformat and reinstall windows and hope for better luck next time. I just had to do that with my roomates computer. If you have the spyware thats called coolWWWsearch a reinstall of windows is for sure the only way to rid yourself of that awfull plauge. Another thing to consider, when you get your freash windows install up and running with the latest patches, virus scanner (I use AVG Free Edition), a firewall (I use sygate personal firewall it's free), and some antispyware ( I use Microsoft's antispyware beta, lavasofts ad aware, and spybot search and destroy all of which are free) you should then make a new user account and grate it limited access. That will prevent a lot of this spyware and viruses from installing by itself becasue you need Administrator privledges to install things. I hardly ever log onto the administrators account, only to update windows and other software. Good luck next time around.

and get Ewido from www.ewido.net (freeware) , it's an excellent all around program for all types of malware. BUT, no 1 program will give you full protection from everything.

p.s. always make sure you're software is updated frequently.

omun, all my respects to you but completly reformating a comp just cpz of few spyware is pretty stupid. and i know how to use a comp, im just not a nerd and i have others things to do

okay, but I would really stress the importance of running your computer as a User instead of an Administrator all the time expecially if your planing on browsing the internet with Microsoft's Internet Exploder. And I'm for real sometimes a refromat is the only way to go. google coolWWWsearch thats what my roomate had and I tried every trick in the book to get rid of it but it just kept comming back. for Adware it's the best thing. don't expect adaware to get any of the real tricky spyware.

Why does everyone consider reformatting such a drastic measure? Damn I used to do it every couple of months just to get rid of crap and extra microshit products. Adaware does exactly what it says, catches "ad-ware" not "spy-ware". Omun sounds like he knows what he's talking about, I would take him serious. As far as being on dialup/broadband the only difference is how fast you dl the stupid crap. Use as little microshit products as possible as they are full of loop holes, download a new HOSTS file to block popups, and make sure to run windows update to fill any gaps. Spy-bot is a decent program to run, and I'm sure there are many more out there....
