What causes male plants

I've always been wondering what causes MJ plants to become male...could it be possibly their genetics...their surroundings and such...or could it be just meer stress? could anyone shed some light on this? Cheers!

there genetics. ive heard of ways you can force sex them but im not sure if those are true or not. its all about there genetics.

Genetics is just ONE underlieing cause to what makes males males. Stress is a HUGE factor, along with nutes and lots of other things.

NO STRESS is the stress factor.....the thing is you want as LESS stress as possible. As for the nutes.....well, Im no chemist but I can break it down like this.

During cycles of the plants life, they thrive on certain balances of nutrients...say its in veg., you would want a high nitrogen (N), low phosphate (PH), and high potash (K2O). During flower, you would want a low (N) high (PH) and low (K2O). This would be a good nutrient soulution for a plants life to keep the stress down.

Now, I am NO pro at this, and am meerly learning, but in my experiences with growing this is what rings true. Some people, Im sure would argue with me, but I stick to what works for ME, and I have grown some very nice indoor cannabis, and Im in the middle-to-last stages of my first outdoor grow(which by the way is flourishing and guinormous at 7'2", and 4' across....Im not bragging, Im proud!!!). But realize you will always have some males, unless you grow clones or from feminized seeds. Even under optimal conditions you'll get a few.

Thanks for all the input you have given!:) anywho i think my best two plants are turning male...bummer i have only one more left that hasnt shown its sex yet...I was wondering if it was possible and ok to force its sex towards the female side by using Sensa Spray? its bit pricy bout 20 pounds for 2oz bottle of plant hormone but hey...if i can get it to go female then i will!

I dont think u can FORCE it twards female.....but u can make conditions optimal and have way better luck. I dont know....try it and keep us posted:D

i think EmTpockets has hit the nail on the head,because i have been growing a lot of bag seed for the last year .
I always give my plants the best enviroment i can and have found out of all the plants i have grown i may have had a few hermys but no plants were just purely male.
So try and give them the best conditions you can and you should do o.k.....

ye il try the for my nxt grow soon...im also want to try that sensa spray stuff...still waiting for my pay check! Grrrrrrr! i was gonna pick all the male buds off and spray the female hormone stuff on it and see what happens...should be intresting!
