A couple in Scotland who claimed to be addicted to computer gaming have been jailed for three months after admitting that they neglected their four children.
The father, 28, claimed to have become addicted to online gaming, and that his wife had also been affected. Arbroath Sheriff Court was told that the case was one of the worst ever seen by police and social workers.
Social workers were called after neighbours spotted two of the children naked on a window ledge. The workers found a baby in a heavily soiled nappy, and two of the children required emergency dental work. One had to have all her teeth removed.
Sheriff Norrie Stein said: "The reports say there is difficulty in identifying a community-based [sentence], and I'm afraid to say, for you two, there is no alternative to a prison sentence.
"This neglect appears to have occurred over a significant period and, despite extensive home support, clothing and laundry services, and parenting classes, you have clearly chosen to disregard your children."

I'm allergic to MMORPG's too much time investment. Plus why the heck would anyone want to pay monthly fees for a game they paid nearly 80$ for in the first place. That better be the best goddamn game ever made or ever to be made in my estimation. Shoot pick up half life for 5$ and play the modifications for it ;).

I like the idea of being able to explore a "fake" world though and just kind of poke my nose into every corner type of thing, I love exploring. Forgotten Realms did that recently I believe with their interactive atlas I've been looking for a copy but its not in any stores near me.

Those poor kids. Imagine how many times their needs and wants went unanswered and how many times they problably needed a hug or a kiss or a cuddle and had nothing.Maybe not even eye contact.
The physical neglect is horrible.
The emotional neglect and trauma is heartbreaking.
So very sad. I feel like holding mine right now, but they are sleeping.
I cannot imagine how......just how can you favor anything over your own children let alone a computer game.

id also take bets on the game being world of warcraft though, or possibly just some casino things..

It has already happened a few times with everquest parents. Some couple in the US went to jail for neglect, their kid was starving.

MMORPG
Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game

I play EQ2 myself and I might have went to bed late sometimes because of it, but I never neglected my life to make a lvl.

They are extremely lame, repetive games, that ask for a huge time sink for absolutely nothing in return. Yes, I've played most of them, but no, not to the addicted points these people take it to. Honestly, is it that important to escape your daily life? Since Evercrack came out, every MMO has used it as a model on how to make money. Simply keep moving that carrot farther away from the donkey.

It's not Only Gaming that Leads to neglect in Scotland . . . Could also be the SoapBar and Haggis along with the annual dressing up as William Wallace and believing that because you were born in Scotland you are the High and Mighty! . . . . Sense my sarcastic comment . . .

. . . I'm only joking, The Scot's will give you anything you like . . . As long as you pay double wack for it! . . . Ever heard the saying . . .

. . "He's tighter than a scotsman with nee arms!" . . . ;) . . .

. . . Still , , , 100% more pleasant than us from London . . Rat Race Posse!
