Fucking Paranoid man, what can I do. Short of stop smoking that shit.

Did you know that pot does not cause paranoia, it is the law, as unjust as it is that does that. TO REITERATE, THERE IS NOTHING IN POT THAT CAUSES PARANOIA!! If you want to eliminate this unwanted phobia from your life just do a little research on why this benevolent plant was made illegal. Go to the internet and search on William Randolph Hearst, essays. You might also check out the CannabisCulture issue #14,(available on the internet) and find out what making pot illegal did for all those poor bastards who ended up with physical deformaties because marijuana was not available and their mothers were given Thalidomide.

I thought it was somthing to do with dopamine (sp) that made you paranoid?

And hello Candy...sorry to hear about your plants...

RichardB, it is a fact that smoking marijuana increases your heart rate, which gives you the feeling of being scared, nervous or anxious... hence paranoia.

"Certainly the least pleasant mental effect of cannabis, though it is one you can learn to counter. Partly it comes about through the increase in heart rate, which can cause a feeling of slight panic and dread if you are not used to the sensation. You will be more likely to jump at loud noises or unexpected bodily contact. Busy places can become difficult and confusing (like Amsterdam Central Station, for one). You may feel as if you are being followed or watched. In extreme cases you can really freak out over this: literally everyone will be watching you, and if asked, you can prove it. I am just trying to be as honest as possible. Paranoia is unpleasant, but is just a temporary thing and can be combatted. If affected too badly by it, just remind yourself that it is an effect of the drug and like all the others, will wear off over time. If possible, get yourself somewhere quiet to chill out; solitude is a good way to combat it. Or find something to concentrate on, like a calming or interesting programme on TV, or a piece of favourite music. It's usually better to acknowledge you are a bit freaked out than to try and brazen it out in front of others, which can often only make you more paranoid."

Yes, but if it wasn't illegal, there wouldn't be anything to be paranoid about, so that's MOST of what leads to it. I'm usually not paranoid, unless we're like..smoking on the sidewalk.

Hey Candy

This is just one of the things that I constantly complain about, misinformation among tokers. Let me reiterate once again but with quotes this time, "There is nothing in marijuana that makes you paranoid". Whoever this person is who is telling you that it does is trying to make you conform to a law that shouldn't be there in the first place. AND NO POT DOES NOT MAKE YOUR HEART RATE RISE...IT DOES THE EXACT OPPOSITE, IT RELAXES YOU AND BRINGS HEART RATES DOWN. This GosToker person is probably a cop trying to perpetuate the paranoia in you poor folks by posing a someone who knows some facts. This person is no friend...don't trust him.

Heart Issues:
Because cannabis increases heart rate, it could potentially increase risks of heart problems in those at risk of heart disease. One study found that cannabis use increased the risk of heart attack in men over 40, but its findings were weak and based on a very small number of individuals. In a large study of 65,000 individuals in California by Sidney et al in 1997, cannabis was not found to increase mortality rates among users under 50.

There's no point in denying that Cannabis does have some negative side effects. It just makes you look stupid, and who's going to take you seriously then?

Oh and by the way, the website I got that information from (you know, about Cannabis increasing your heart rate and making you feel anxious, nervous, etc, which is partly the reason for paranoia) is a PRO-CANNABIS website.

Dipshit!

I believe that marijuana does increase your heartrate, as it's a proven fact. However, I think there is at least some added paranoia because of the issue of legality of pot, obviously. I see what RichardB is saying, but I think he's taking it a lil' too far by throwing accusations around and saying that the legality issue is the only reason that paranoia is caused.

I get paranoid also.. but I ONLY GET paranoid because I think I will get busted, No LAW and I would not be paranoid..you know you are not supposed to be doing it, so you are like oh fuck what if the cops come.. That is why I smoke at home with a female...
