I know that you have to harvest when about 80% of the hair like things have turned brown. At the moment about 40% of mine are brown. Im growing durbon poison under a 400w hps. Thanks for your help.

Sorry, forgot to put what I wanted to know. How long is it likely to be before I can harvest.

Ignore the hairs and look for stark white trichomes present on the leaf and flower pod surfaces. You will need a strong camera or a $20.00 pocket scope from the rat shack.

So how do I tell when its ready, how many stark white trichomes should there be? And what exactly is a stark white trichomes anyway?

Get a eye loop from rat shack.

get close to the surface of the leafs or bud.

You will see objects that look like a golf ball sitting on a tee.

Giant water tank looking things if you will.

There are anywhere from thousands to tens of thousands to millions depending on plant size and potency.

The stages are clear / cloudy (white) and amber.

Clear means not ready
Cloudy means peak
Amber means past peak.

Harvest on average of couldy 80% / amber 20%.

It takes a little practice with that scope, but with some patience you can see things you've never seen before!

Thanks guys, what exactly is the rat shack, I live in the uk by the way so if its a shop we may not have it over here. Will any microscope do? How powerfull does it need to be?

The "rat shack" is really called Radio Shack just an electronics and other gadgets and gizmo's shop. But all you really need to find is a 30x magnifying glass to help you get a good look at the Trichs.
