What do you all think about this Cindy Sheehan protesting about the war in iraq? I personally think she is a bitch and needs to shut the fuck up because she doesn't speak for most of us and most soldiers want to finish their work in iraq. Just because she lost her son doesn't mean she's gotta go startin a bunch of crap on how the war in iraq is wrong and telling stupid ass bush to get the toops out of there. If they did leave now then what would they have accomplished??? Absolutely nothing....because the insurgents would take back the government and they would have a tyrant again that threatens the world. Then her son would of truely died for nothing. I think we should finish what we started and be more wiser in choosing our president next time.

Well I have mixed opinions. I do support what she's trying to promote, as there really is no place for the U.S. in Iraq. It's imperializm, to a lesser degree. However, her ways are just ridiculous. She is doing it in the most non-formal way possible. She's just making an enemy out of Bush, and for that, her efforts will be wasted.

Yeah, like Intrepid said, I dont how much good it will do, but at least since she started camping out, polls numbers have continued to go down for Bush. If anything, it might engage the public a little more, and they might start asking themselves, does Bush have a plan, a timetable, why is he being so evasive?

The war really isnt affecting the public enough that they really care about the war. Except for activists, familes of dead soldiers, etc, most Americans can still go to work everyday, shop at Banana Republic and eat at McDonalds. If they're routine is disturbed, then they'll care. Its sad but true.

yes the lord of the chimp's did meet with her..but she never had the opportunity to ask him the question she wanted to..those meetings are carefuly orchastrated to ensure no one can ask lord bush any contreversial question's..just like all the town hall meeting's he has done with HAND PICKED audiences ...all she want's to know is ..what noble cause her only son died for??considering that the murder bush has not attended even one funeral of any of the brave young men and women who died in this quagmire ..he should at least ask rasputin or i mean cheney to let him have his balls back long enough to confront and answer the woman's question...i know many people on this site have differant views on politics and the war ..but we should all respect each others opinion's enough to keep working togeather for the real cause of this site ..and that is to win the war on marijuana..so if we are going to have these discussions here we. should limit name calling to the person of discussion..not each other..unless we are talking about a thief or narc or informant ...just my $0.02 worth

Read and learn the truth young rebel!

Since learning in April that their son, Army Spc. Casey Sheehan, had been killed in Iraq, life has been everything but normal for the Sheehan family of Vacaville.
Casey's parents, Cindy and Patrick, as well as their three children, have attended event after event honoring the soldier both locally and abroad, received countless letters of support and fielded questions from reporters across the country.

"That's the way our whole lives have been since April 4," Patrick said. "It's been surreal."

But none of that prepared the family for the message left on their answering machine last week, inviting them to have a face-to-face meeting with President George W. Bush at Fort Lewis

Surreal soon seemed like an understatement, as the Sheehans - one of 17 families who met Thursday with Bush - were whisked in a matter of days to the Army post and given the VIP treatment from the military. But as their meeting with the president approached, the family was faced with a dilemma as to what to say when faced with Casey's commander-in-chief.

"We haven't been happy with the way the war has been handled," Cindy said. "The president has changed his reasons for being over there every time a reason is proven false or an objective reached."

The 10 minutes of face time with the president could have given the family a chance to vent their frustrations or ask Bush some of the difficult questions they have been asking themselves, such as whether Casey's sacrifice would make the world a safer place.

But in the end, the family decided against such talk, deferring to how they believed Casey would have wanted them to act. In addition, Pat noted that Bush wasn't stumping for votes or trying to gain a political edge for the upcoming election.

"We have a lot of respect for the office of the president, and I have a new respect for him because he was sincere and he didn't have to take the time to meet with us," Pat said.

Sincerity was something Cindy had hoped to find in the meeting. Shortly after Casey died, Bush sent the family a form letter expressing his condolences, and Cindy said she felt it was an impersonal gesture.

"I now know he's sincere about wanting freedom for the Iraqis," Cindy said after their meeting. "I know he's sorry and feels some pain for our loss. And I know he's a man of faith."

The meeting didn't last long, but in their time with Bush, Cindy spoke about Casey and asked the president to make her son's sacrifice count for something. They also spoke of their faith.

While meeting with Bush, as well as Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona, was an honor, it was almost a tangent benefit of the trip. The Sheehans said they enjoyed meeting the other families of fallen soldiers, sharing stories, contact information, grief and support.

For some, grief was still visceral and raw, while for others it had melted into the background of their lives, the pain as common as breathing. Cindy said she saw her reflection in the troubled eyes of each.

"It's hard to lose a son," she said. "But we (all) lost a son in the Iraqi war."

The trip had one benefit that none of the Sheehans expected.

For a moment, life returned to the way it was before Casey died. They laughed, joked and bickered playfully as they briefly toured Seattle.

For the first time in 11 weeks, they felt whole again.

"That was the gift the president gave us, the gift of happiness, of being together," Cindy said.

and besides the man has stated his views on why they are Over there getting shot at

its not as if he aint answered her
and another thing
FUCK HER FOR MAKING ME TAKE BUSHES SIDE.
not that he cares about us ,but why should he meet with her to be ask a dum ass question like that, she knows why he sent troops,or why he will say he has.
what she expect to get face to face and say why, why, why like a 3 yr old to ever answer, its down right low of her to want to take up the man's time with such crap,
he has people to do that shit for him,he is the prez afterall with a country to RULE.

if he spent his time meeting with everybody like that, people would then gripe about it.
and agian fuck who ever you are for making me defend that fucker bush,
but she is wrong with doing what she is,how she is doing it at least.
using her sons memory and shitting on his honor, instead of seeing him as a dedicated warrior who died for his nation's service ,a real hero.a risk he knew of and took freely.
she wants to think of him as a USED slab of meat.that is sad.
i guess grief makes ya crazy

My problem is not so much with her convenient change of heart.

More so with the fact that she is a media whore.

Her mother had a heart attack, her husband left her???she doesn??t give a shit about anyone but herself. Have you heard the interviews she gives. Half the shit she says is clearly not of her own design.

But I guess when you have moveon.org paying your bills they are going to want something for their money.

She is a disgusting filthy bitch.

Who is dishonoring the sacrifice of an American soldier.

Where my rage come from is the fact that this is her son. For an American to do this to one of their own is nothing new. We in the past have had no problems with dishonoring our own. But for a mother to do this to her son is unforgivable. She is spiting in his face post mortem.

I could give a shit about bush?..thats not what this is about.

If it was a bunch of anti-abortion nuts protesting outside some doctors home, Bush would be all for it. It might be wrong to protest outside someone's house, but the Republicans have been doing it for years. As far as I'm concerned, Bush and the Republicans are just getting their own tactics thrown back in their faces.

amsterdam
08-30-2005, 02:56 PM
name one time the "republicans" protested outside someones house??

perhaps the anti-abortion people protested outside a planned parenthood after a 11 year old had an abortion, but they arent republicans.

Optimus Pot

If an 11 year old girl is pregnant, she needs an abortion. Who's going to take care of the child, the pedophile that raped her? The anti abortion people aren't republicans? Name one time in the last 20 years the Republicans ran a pro choice candidate for president? Most of the right wing nuts like Pat Robertson have all the power in the Republican party. And I never saw any Major Republican speak out when some abortion Doctor's home was being violated.

As for the troops really wanting to stay & finish up over there, eh. I know several of 'em, & while they're pretty much resigned to it, I wouldn't say they're exactly thrilled. My personal opinion is that this war is reprehensible, but I do support the troops, because most of them of just kids trying to do their jobs. I am a care package diva!

I don't know if Cindy Sheehan's approach is necessarily the most effective, but I agree with her broad premise against the war. And keep in mind that her son was killed! I don't have children, so I can only imagine the overwhelming grief she's feeling... she won't get to see him become a full adult, marry, have children. I'd probably go mad with grief as well, so I don't feel like I can judge her.

I believe in Sheehan's right to protest, but I feel that she's dishonoring what her son stood for..which is freedom for ALL..not just for those who already have their freedom.
