I am kicking around a soil to use and wanted to know if anyone has had any ideas or expereice with this type of soil.

This is my soil mix plan:

Organic Top Soil (Black Dirt) 3 Parts
Perlite 2 Parts

Little Blood meal mixted well into soil.

This soil does not have any nuts mixed with it.

Please let me know if you have ever used anything like this before?
I like the idea of having something with no nuts in it so I know exactly what goes into my soil/plants.

Thanks

sounds good..make sure it drains well...also try some vermulite (sp)..

organic. soil...with no time release nitro...if it has it in it flush it well....

perilite
vermulite
soak well....wear a mask. when working with it....nasty dust..

I would switch the mixture to 50/50 Perlite/dirt my self better drainage that way. Make sure you have plenty of drain holes and not just a few in the center of the bottom. You will have fewer problems if you have plenty of drainage.

I agree with zandor 50/50 sounds alot better. Its more of a hybrid of hydro and soil, you have to water more often but the increased oxyenation on the plants will increase growth.
