Lighting.... in english please

hey guys,

my first grow seems to be not going so well in the fact that my plants ar about 11 inches tall and only have 4 sets of 3 point leaves ( no digital camera for pictures sorry) but anyway i am pretty sure the problem is with my lighting so i try to do some research on lighting and got toally confused all these CPL's and MH's and stuff pretty much the only thing i understood was wattage. so basically i am just wondering if someone could explain good lighting to me. do standard lightbulbs work? do i have to use flaurecent ?

any help will be much appreciated

floros are good for seedlings and vegs stages i think

Hey there bennybob.
Here's some help when it comes to lighting.
1. MH = Metal Halide - Extremely well for vegatation
2. HPS = High Pressure Sodium - Extremely well for flowering
3. Fluoroecents/CFL - Depending on the wattage, can be good for both veg and flower.
You said the only thing you understood was wattage, now you have no problem, 1000w HPS/MH, 450w HPS/MH, as you can see they're based on W as is most.
With Fluoros I think the strongest you might be able to get is 80-100watt /light.
