I've been smoking for many years (since high school, natch) and have started to become a little concerned about the effects of smoking on my lungs. I've heard that vaporizors are supposed to be a less detrimental alternative to the standard ways of smoking.

Anybody use one? Are they really cleaner and do they still get you high, or are they just a scam?

Input much appreciated,

I use a vaporizer and I love it. I use just a small amount of bud and get really, really high. I think they make better use of the weed because they only vaporize when your hitting it, unlike a pipe, joint, etc that continues to burn between hits. Plus it seems that it is just a more efficient way of consuming THC.

The high you get is cleaner, you get much more of a head high and don't tend to get burned out. Instead of slowly losing your high over a long period of time it seems to just wear off fairly quickly. Like you get high, stay high for a long time, and then, bam, all of a sudden your straight again.

Since there isn't any smoke you don't have any problems with smell, either in the room you've consumed in or on your breath. You could take a few vap hits and have someone come into the room a minute later and they'd never know.

As far as the health aspects are concerned, since there isn't any smoke I certainly assume your not getting so much crap in your lungs. Also, you don't get that sticky resin build up in the vaporizer like you do with a pipe or bong so it makes sense that there's less in your lungs.

There's two types of vaporizers and you want to be sure to get te right one. One type has a glass dome and heats the bud in a metal bowl (conduction type). The other type draws hot air though the bud when you hit it(convection type). The 2nd, convection, type is what you want. I've had both and can tell you the difference is like night and day. They're more expensive but the differnce in the amount of bud they consume more than makes up the difference in cost. I use an Aromazap ($100 delivered) and have heard good things about the VaporBrothers as well.

The only drawback to using a vaporizer is that they are pretty much a one person consumption method and aren't good for social smoking.
