I am in the middle of finishing 8 plants...3 DWC and 5 soil...Last night I opened
a new section and started to rearrange. Here are some pix of new space and old space as I remodel growroom...I will be posting several pix throughout the project as well as some growth pix, so bear with me...I hope you enjoy the Show!
...to my forum friends; if you see something that bothers you, jump right in and mention it to me. Remember this is an ongoing project and there will be some things out of place until I can catch up. Perhaps, i will get some ideas from all of you to make this room even better...I appreciate all you Question's and suggestion's. That is how I learn!...thanks...
1. new space
2. end of old space...note plastic
3. My new clonestation/shelf
4. this is just openup-pic from old space
5. All "my girls"...wondering, "what the fuck?"

1. 1st night in new space..."my po'tiki hut"

2. this is how far I got tonight...a few leaks...upper left is a $5 wally fan hole

3. the other side...

4. 'Mongo' in all her glory :D ...One plant, :D 7' tall, One Kola, :D broke this plant :( and she didn't herm; :) she knotted up the injury and grew like hell. :) I had her beant over all the others for a while, that is how she grew all the secondary's so big :D

5. all the girls tucked in temporarily for the night...isn't that a pretty sight?
Well there you go, I am working in between posts..as pix are taking a little longer than usual...

Lookin' good lakewood! How big of an area is this? And what are you using for the curtains/walls?

And man those plants look great! Gonna have a lot fun in a few weeks it looks like! Congrats!!

1. New clone shelf
2. backside of shelf "lightight"
3. Phaze II DWC on shelf
4. Phaze II soiless exp.
5.leaving from behind left of cloneshelf

Now, I have to pull a couple of them out and remount my lights... :(
Man, who said this shit was easy?
I decided to flower my Phaze II clones, because I want the space, to start my BBxJH seeds.(the short version) They are an average 1 foot tall and they have been in bubblers 3 weeks, with nutes for one week...I'm going to top them off with ph'd ROwater and sensizyme and start flower nutes next weekend...I sure hope this works...
another thing to ponder is; I had a time problem with my clones on 18/6 lighting up at 11pm and my 12/12 going off for the night at 11:30 pm...
So, for lack of a better plan; I skipped the /6 hour dark period; took them into flower room tonight and they will go on dark cycle w/ the rest at 10:30
I shifted the 12/12 time 1 hour forward...hope they don't freak!
well, I've got to get back to work...less than an hour 'til lights out...thanks

And man those plants look great! Gonna have a lot fun in a few weeks it looks like! Congrats!!I still have the space 3' x 7' I moved from, which is next to the new space...I am going to plumb this area for RODI unit and res's which will be powered by my new 600gph external pump :) :) :)

it is 6mil thick, so you can tack it up, but it is light enough for you to tape.
it cost around $100 for a 12' x 100' roll and there is nothing better on the market!!! Available at your local hydro store. If you can't find it, then let me know and I will turn you on to my source,,, and, Thanks for the comprops

I figured I'd get a stash :p and a couple of good strains for moms...I didn't know the clones would do so well, so I think they will just turn into SOG...
The big babies are almost ready to harvest, noticed higher % cloudy trichs tonight.

I shouldn't have done the soiless, but I hated the idea of killing the clones! :p

Why?, do you think I'm gonna have too much POT? ...never happen...It's my only vice anymore (10.5 months "Sobriety" :) ...I figure, If you have the room, why not fill it with buddage, besides, I get bored easily, so I start building shit.

and big change in them
look goodIt is metal halide...if you have bulbs, they will work...you need to make sure that you don't mix a metal halide in a hps ballast and vice-versa...the one in picture is your standard highbay vert. lightbulb...I am going to change it over to agrosun gold Horizontal bulb ASAP

P.S....Anybody...I mentioned this the other day and a guy said I couldn't use a vert ballast w horizontal bulb...that's bullshit right?...I was under belief that you coud use 400w mh ballast with any mh bulb, vert. or horizontal

HARDDON
08-20-2005, 05:21 PM
It is not the ballasts that give you fits with horizontal vs. vertical....unless the ballast is built into the bulb itself.

If the ballast is designed specifically for a certain position, altering the designed position will only result in premature death of the ballast.

The only thing the ballasts are really affected by is heat. If the ballast is designed to vent heat a specific direction, it is best to allow it to operate in such a manner.

But yes....

If you want to hang a bulb either vert or horiz...you need a UNIVERSAL bulb.

If you hang a vert only bulb in a horizontal position, or, visa-versa, you run the risk of exploding the light bulbs.

I talked at length with peeps at discounthydro and fullspectrumsolutions about this. They both confirmed the importance of following directions in lighting positioning.

If the unit is not universal, then it should be setup as designed.

KABLOOM

latewood
08-20-2005, 05:54 PM
yeah, Harddon, but wouldn't you agree that i could put hor. bulb in the mogul base I'm using?
I pretty much know it is alright, just wanted to confirm...you know how it is when somebody cast doubt over your parade

HARDDON
08-20-2005, 09:56 PM
If it follows the instructions, sure I dont see what would be the problems....

is your mogul base detached or attached to the ballast?

If your ballast is designed for a specific position it needs to stay that way.

If your bulb is designed for a specific position it needs to stay that way.

I think the higher the light wattage the bigger KABLOOM you get too. :)

Those glass shards can do some real damage to the face when traveling at high speeds too.....

I generally follow a theory in life and business....

"It is better to do and ask for forgiveness than to not do and ask for permission."

I follow this pattern....cept when it comes to light and electricity things :)

latewood
08-20-2005, 10:44 PM
OK, then I'm OK and I was right, OK... My 400w metal halide is a commercial light.or like the big square fixtures in the overhangs at gas stations...It is a vertical bulb, I would not put this bulb horizontal...common sense, H, we discussed this when you advised me to remove reflectors and put light horizontal, and I responded that I thought this was a vertical only...anyway, the ballast and igniter were all mounted on square frame. I now have that on floor, just the way it has always sat....the mogul was mounted vert. thru the hat, which I removed. Now I have rewired from the guts to the mogul base an 8' flex cable so I don't have to deal with the hood assembly. I am going to do a project with this later......I still use this lamp vertically, because I haven't gotten gotten my new bulb...so we are all on the same page, yes?..thanks
my new bulb, Agrosun Gold Horizontal, but when I get the horizontal bulb, I will mount the mogul horizontally, as it is not mounted to anything, ballast or vert. bulb...

should keep bulbs vertical, more output. if you have a ballast w/igniter it is a hps, good for flowering, tends to stretch the plants some. i use a combo. this pic is flood & drain. r

I do have both, hps is designed hor...mh is designed vert., but I changed that, now can be used for hor. or vert.

"I do have both, hps is designed hor...mh is designed vert., but I changed that, now can be used for hor. or vert."

This is all new to me but I thought the bulb was either vert or hor? Just changing the ballast couldn't change the fact that the bulb only worked for vert or hor?

And latewood I apologize in a prior post I called you lakewood. Sorry.

marc, no-ones changing a ballast...I am changing from vertical bulb to horizontal bulbthere are some bulbs that you can run either way.

I cleaned house last night and 3 girls were taken to harvest :D ...they were flushed w/final phase except for the dwc, which I took because of a bigass seed :( I had high hopes for her,but she turned on me! :cool:here are the last pix of the girls alive!
1. hermie/dwc...had great expectations for this one...
2. the "goddess", soil...strange little plant...topped her and she grew rows of popcorn buds...I think she might be a potent one...meant to re-veg her, but got stoned and chopped her off at the knees.
3. single kola, soil
4. hung up to dry...hermie, goddess, single kola
5. Phaze II all tucked away 2nd night of 12/12

5.Clones-3rd day of 12/12...

Lights blew breaker 1 hour into light cycle this A.M., was off for an hour, then I caught it and got everything back on track... Damn, I just want to get through to harvest!!!...well, enjoy pix...

Marc, these clones were taken in the 2-3 week of flower, after I determined
sex(I was a little slow at that)...so, yes this secondary growth is from good lighting, but not necessarily "new" although since I started to flower them 3 days ago, I noticed small hairs, like new growth this AM, however I don't think that you can see them in the pic...does this answer your question?

Marc Benson
08-22-2005, 02:07 AM
Yep. Answers my question although it was more just a comment...made to look like a question. ha Reason I even mentioned it was that I took the worst plant I had and did some bending with it. As soon as I did the secondary growth really took off. Not like what you have here, but not bad considering I'm just using cfl's.

latewood
08-22-2005, 02:25 AM
hey man, I almost bought big cfl's, but, the bottom line in all lighting threads was HID,HID, you know what I mean? anyway, I almost had the big dual spectrums...I would still like about 4 of them...I would put them about a foot inside the corners, then I would go around the perimeter with plants with my HID's in the middle. sweet...
the bending really helps to get the plant fat, all the extra light penetration seems to help the whole plant...when I first saw that big arm of buds all in a row growing up toward the light I...I, just gotta say it...got a hard-on!hahahaha. thanks for viewing, hang in there, you'll get what you want outta this...

2. left side of Phaze II...1 potted plant, lower right, schultz orchid mix, doing nicely...I like this stuff :p ...both plants in front budding like crazy... :D
3. 45 degrees to the right/at the corner...kinda nice...
4. right side has nice spacing for better light penetration, noe that Mongo' is on the way out! :( 1000 watter on the way :D :D :D
5. This one is for Marc; as he marvels after all the beautiful, intoxicating, secondary growth that we all lust after, yet few achieve...lmao...just kidding
these were taken in flower and they reverted back, I couldn't believe it; all the flowers went completely away, and turned into new growth...what you see now

Your setup is bloody amazing mate

Harddon's right - you are a mad scientist, & a very good one too.

How many times are you gonna change your growroom round til your happy with it? Keep up the great growing :DWell, Ganj... :) I started out with 18 plants, just wanting to see what I could get as far as females...
Well for most of my last grow I had 12 females, culled 5 males and took on plant that was wasting my time! 2-3 weeks into flower, I decided to clone in order to keep producing...and my cloning techniques worked; so well in fact, that I ended up with 10 great clones...I killed 2 a couple of weeks ago, :( because I didn't want to deal with extra plants again, I want better overall quality...Growing is easy. Now I want to fine tune grow methods, for max. yield and potency...I went by sq. footage for lights, not worrying about space the 1st time...and that was a mistake. :o ..I got plenty of My local strain...Carolina Sky :) ;)
and bought some BBxJH and KK sent me Misty Blue also :p ...they are in seedling stage...So you see, I needed to change my room to suit my ever changing needs...I am currently adding a 2 x 4 veg room for the blues, with 400w MH; leaving the C. sky clones in my main room, under a 1000w hps(pending arrival)(currently a 250hps and the 400w MH)...I now have 3 rooms...I for water and waste management, 1 for veg, and 1 for flower...I am adding 5000btu window unit, built into the wall. I am awaiting the arrival of my new 1000 watter hps...
so I have all in order I believe...I think I will wait awhile before I start breeding. I'll have 4 strains, when my Afghani Sharkk arrives...
MY Carolina Sky is a lemon/sweet tasting Sativa, that should go well with the indica dominant strains I have bought...I am looking for C99 or similar, also!
Well that was one "hell" of an answer, in my estimation...Shut-up  ...who said that? ...

Surpised that no one has tried to guess answer, in order to win free samples of Misty blue...It's in one of my other 2 current live threads...

figured out way to use camera...here is today's updates, then I will go back to weekly/bi-weekly updates as necessary  ...hope you enjoy :)
1. This is my only potted clone. 26" tall Isn't she beautiful? Schultz Orchid mix over lava rock...topped with Harddon's Marble for light reflection...I have been feeding her with ph'd ROwater and superthrive 1/2 tsp per gallon; only, so far.:p
Next. Nice Hydro clone/s. 25"-35" tall
C. "The Corner"...they just won't stop growing...check the difference from yesterday! ;) they grew 2-6 inches overnight respectively. I think they are almost through stretching...If I get lucky, they will stop between 30" and 36"
That is what I was shooting for when I flowered at 14"-16"...

My nute recipe: Advanced Nutrients 3-part...Sensizyme, Big Bud(Flower only),
Botanicare-Liquid Karma(contains fulvic acid and organics)(If you had to have just 1 additive I would pick Liquid Karma and/or superthrive),
Europonic Fossil Fuel-Humic Acid.
I am currently using the medium feeding schedule @ AN
I will be getting voodoo juice and piranha when I can afford it, but these 2 products cost about 130 bucks for the liter sizes
maybe I will grow in pots from now on...alot cheaper, maybe :o

quatro. Mongo's Stalk, yes, that's at least an inch+ thick...gotta love hydro
Man,I'm having fun...and I couldn't help myself...
here is one more of the "Big M"
hope you enjoyed your "trip" through latewood's little room

We are going to pick up the grow with the end of flowering/final phase ;)
of this grow. I have several to catch up with, so I'm going to take latewood's
little room forward in time to; "Harvest Blessings" :)

1. End of flowering Phaze II cloning project

2. 2 weeks later/flushinf with AN final phase

3. getting close to that time

4. Starting to manicure

5. I harvest the Orchid Mix experiment, and left this foliage to allow strong re-veg...

Well, My Orchid mix experiment has produced a nice sweet/smooth smokin' bud
and I re-vegged her.
1. Ochid mix harvest...gummy buds, nice finger hash :stoned: :stoned:

2. Unidentified skunk plant clone this is schwagg or medium grade commercial at best...I re-vegged her, but decided to let'er go and save the expense for better genetics...
3. Carolina Sky...Our local strain...very nice sweet smoke..up high... :D

4. "Harvest Blessings" the 'ol lady got creative

5. partial manicuring done, 1 to go...

...in $10 home made bubblers

1. I wasn't going to post this pic, but realized that I hadn't really shown
this starter system I made last year...It was so convenient, that I used it entire grow, just to see how much yield I could get...

2. All the trim from PHAZE II

3. All done

4. end of Phaze II/cleanup...

5. final cutting PHAZE II carolina sky clones...this is gooey...Made finger hash after manicuring it, by rubbing my fingers tigether to heat goo up and roll it into a little ball...got 5-6 hits from it choke, choke,,, :stoned:

Now that I have this harvest out of the way...My re-veg is doing well...I have 9 clones and a lone Sexy Orange Skunk seedling in veg...I would've had 7 more nice Misty Blue clones, but a moth got in my res and knocked out one entire bank of clones before I found him.

and of course, I have My 2 Misty Blue/BBjack's in flower week 4

I am starting up my aero sytem tonight...so stay tuned...lw

Hello Latewood :) well if it's ok with you I'll just look at you're plants with amazment :) . I've tried to keep track of whats going of in there but I don't know maybe it's just me.......I'm lost :o

You're plants look fabulous Latewood :)

Just one question.........Can Mrs. Latewood find you when you're in there ? :)

love mand xxx :)I have 3 rooms...
I have flower room 4x7x7...multi-aero tub veg chamber in tub shower...
Propagation closet...

I have about 5 threads...

Latewood's Little Room was a thread I created to cover highlights of my grow...my cloning experiment...My Orchid mix based grow medium for potted pot plants experiment...homemade bubble cloner experiment; (I just cloned my 2nd generation Misty blue/BB jack herer cuttings, they are rooted) inspired by Zandor's cloning 101...and 2 grow reports; Misty Blue/BBJackherer(4th week of flower)...and Sexy Orange Skunk from Scratch(new)
I also built the aero system and that is in day 4 of tests...the jury is out. I sure love my DWC...well, chew on that for awhile my dear, :) and I'll get back to ya...lw

Awesome shit latewood.

You do some pretty insane stuff.

I had an idea come to me, is it possible to have a hydro setup and have the roots grow into soil coming out of the bottom of the hydro setup? Would that provide any extra strong growth?

the room has evolved somewhat so I am locating/bumping all my running threads, so that i may update/finish them...hope you enjoy.lw

P.S. We did a re-pot step by step, I am going to post for a member who requested the knowledge...so stay tuned
