I am really interested to know if anyone has ever had this happen to them or have you ever HEARD of it happening to anyone else??
a week ago....2am there is this loud bagging on our front door....really loud like the door is coming off the hinges...
I yelled at my husband (who can sleep through anything)
then he has to get his pants on...if it was a murderer I'd be dead already
Anyway....he gets to the door and it is the POLICE...
they push their way in and as I am coming out of the bedroom they are shining light in my eyes and they are looking in every room of our house. Now keep in mind WE NEVER INVITED THEM IN.
They were yelling that a 911 call had originated from our house.
So I immediately thought my youngest son might be hurt of something and headed for his room....the police in tow...
He was asleep and fine. He sleeps by a loud fan so he did not hear the police yelling but as I turned on the light he woke up.
The cops were saying they know a call came from our house. They went to all our phones...and starting pushing numbers and talking to someone....then they said Oh we are so sorry to wake you up... There must be a problem with our system, that happens. Then they left. WTF??!!
Now I know that is bullshit. I have NEVER heard of a 911 system problem like that before, HAVE YOU?
Now keep in mind I have never done anything wrong...no police record I have never even had a speeding or parking ticket nor has my husband...well he had a speeding ticket...but I have not EVER. I have been to lots of protests but never arrested. We have only been in this area for 6 mos. I have never even met any of the cops here. There is absolutely no reason for them to be checking us out.
I am wondering if they were looking for a grow op or something because I am very out spoken about legalization of Weed...
They looked in my hall closet for God's sake...why would they look in the closet? What right do they have to open my closet...It was empty but that is beside the point. Did they assumed the 911 caller was hiding in there? Give me a break..
So as a warning to all growers evidently if the cops "think" a 911 call comes from your house they can march right in...
I guess it was our mistake for opening the door but what are you suppose to do?
Anyone else ever heard of this happening?
Do you think this really was an accident and I am just being paranoid?
I will be so glad to leave this area. one more month and I am GONE!! :D

BlueCat, I think it may have been an accident but they searched your entire house by the sounds of it. What right do they have to do that?!

Seriously though, I've never heard of them just busting in. If it was a hang up call then they would just knock and say "We got a 911 call that was traced here, we're just making sure everything is ok." That's what they do on Cops. I've never heard of a fucking squad like busting in like "Go, Go, Go!" "Let's move out!" unless someone called and said like you're harboring terrorists in your home and have a meth lab in the back, but what are the chances of someone calling that in. If it was really a mistake hopefully the person that really called wasn't dying at their house, cause they'd be dead now. Those dumb asses didn't even go to the right place. Seriously that's some bullshit. I think you should have a talk with someone.
P.S. I called 911 when I was little and hung up...I was really young and at my grandparents house. When they came they just knocked on their door and said is everything ok and my grandma said yes and they just left.

Blue Cat,
I do think it was a mistake?.and they probably said it was a problem with the system because it sounds better than ??sorry we fucked up.? A million things could have happened like the dispatcher gave them wrong address or maybe they transposed the numbers in their own head?happens all the time.
As far as them barging in?..it depends what the 911 call was about. If it sounded like someone was in serious trouble than no they would not say ??excuse me, is everything ok here? they would just come the fuck in. The 911 call is all the probable cause they would need to enter your home.
If they had been out to get you for whatever reason they would NOT have left until they finished what they came for. They are not going to barge into someone??s home in the middle of the night without a search or arrest warrant only to say ??er?? nevermind? because they know it would be thrown out (therefore a waste of their time.)
The good news is that if they had found anything like your stash. Than it would have been thrown out of court. (1) Because phone records would be able to prove that you didn??t call 911. (2) They didn??t have a warrant or permission to enter your home. It would have been an illegal search and seizure.
And if you call and complain about them all it will do is draw more unwanted attention towards yourself?my advice is let it go.
I believe it was an honest mistake.

Thank you so much likemclever :) ...it was really nice of you to help put my mind at ease..
I talked to a lady today that lives a few houses down from me she in her 80s and it happened to her too...
So I am less worried now...
But it still a shock that they could just come in like that.....its something to think about if you have a grow op...I guess if the cops are at the door you can ask through the door what they want and if they give the 911 excuse go outside and talk and don't let them in. By the time they get a warrant you can redecorate...lol

Up until 9/11, it was unheard of for police to do that. It was entirely illegal for a police officer to enter your home uninvited, withouth a warrant of just cause produced by the courts.
Unfortunately, we live in a NEW country, which enacted the "Patriot Act", which means (in as few words as possible) that the police can do anything they want. All they have to do is throw the caveat of "terrorism" into the mix, and they are now legally allowed to enter a home without a warrant, and to search the premises. As far as I know they still need a warrant in order to actually sieze anything, but that's not a chance I would want to take with my family.
The chain lock is a good idea, and from this point on I would keep your shit a little more well hidden. The fact that it happened to a neighbor shouldn't put you at ease in the LEAST, that just means it's happening to more people than just you and that's even worse.
DAMN THE MAN. That is all.

one night we smoked like 6 bongs and had a shot or two of vodka, and we accidently knocked this phone off the hook and the speed dial got hit, so 911 got called but when they called back all that got was static so the cops came out. It was like 3 in the morning when they came. First we werent going to answer teh door, cuz it was just normal knocking, then knock knock again, then BOOM BOOM BOOM. so we answer the door the cops come in(the vodka is right on the ground) one cop(theres two) was like hey do you smell anything i got a cold(reaks like weed)? Other cop, nah just smells like some incense(thank god!!!) THen they just get our names and leave oh and made sure no one was driving. Good thing thye didnt go downstairs i had liek an oz, my scales baggys, and right over the fence in my backyard is a school, so im within a 100 yards of it, then thatd be selling charges too, ahhh god it was scary!

Souns like the Police did screw up.
Be forewarned some cordless phone act wacky as the battery dies!!
They will dail 911 on their own!!
Get rid of your cordless phones as no warrent or tap is needed for them.
