I just went to ozzfest in Seatle, thought I'd share a bit of a short review.
Sure enough, I had to miss Arch Enemy :( . we got there at 10:00 am and they started at 9:00 am and were just finishing. damn.
anywhoo, second stage was open until 4:00 pm. Soilwork, Rob Zombie, and Gizmachi all put on a very good show, otherwise though it was all screamo bands that genuinly sucked.
once first stage opened, the show got really good though. In Flames came on first, but unfortunately they seemed be squeezed for time. they played (in order) Clound Connected, Clayman, The Quiet Place, Touch of Red, then My Sweet Shadow, pretty short set at only 5 songs.
Mudvayne, which I've never heard before, seemed to put on a pretty good show. Black Label Society was awsome too, but I don't know their stuff as well as I should.
now the most important shows :) . Iron Maiden was FREAKING AMAZING . they played their first 4 albums, including greats like Hallowed Be Thy Name, The Trooper, Number of The Beast, Run to The Hills, and many more for about 1 1/2 hours. They were truely amazing, Bruce had more energy than anybody I've ever seen, the greatest experience of my life seeing them.
Then Black Sabbath came on and really surprised me how awsome they were. During the middle of the show Ozzy's voice crapped out, but that turned out for the better. their lead guitarist went into this mind blowing solo that made me feel like I was at a jimi hendrix concert. He went for like 20 minutes just putting us all in a trance, then had 3 more similar solo's throughout the show. ozzy did come back after about 25 minutes btw. lol, plus during sabbath and maiden the place become a cloud of weed smoke.
So all in all, it was a very satisfying concert. the first half of it generally sucked, but it was SO worth it for Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath. oh, and I met all the members of In Flames and got them all to sign my soundtrack to your escape. same with Gizmachi.
